Are you going to SM for class, or is there a HPDE event there? Either way you're lucky!
We will see you May 9th, right?

| | Cadillac Owners Member Cadillac(s): Cadillac | | | | | S/T - A color choice question for you. Had a question about a Black V that that a local dealer has - the original buyer backed out. As I mentioned in the my last post "Black is just awesome" but still wondering if the upkeep will be a problem. I have been leaning toward the gray but my present car is BMW 545 in gray titanium so I thought a change is in order. Your car shows off the front angles of the car quite a bit while black softens the look.
What is your opinion of Black and now that you have had the car for a few weeks, are you still sold on the your color choice? I saw this color on a regular CTS and noticed a very subtle green tint - real nice but adds another $1K.
Only thing missing on the car is the polished wheel option which could be polished by a wheel company or just get them chromed but not sure if I want them that bright.
Thanks

Tom | Hi Tom,
Every color has it's plusses and minuses.
I've owned a lot of black cars over the years. One reason for not ordering black this time around is the work it takes to keep it looking clean. I will be driving this car everyday, not just when it's sunny out. As you note, all black cars, not just the V, lose some of their lines depending on the lighting. The V has a very prominent fascia with acute angles. In the shadows, these get lost on a black car. In the sunlight, black is simply awesome.
My car has been dirty more than it has been clean lately thanks to the road grime here. For some reason the Thunder Gray (TG) doesn't look dirty when it's dusty, just dull. I almost ordered Diamond White, but couldn't pull the trigger as it a near impossible paint to match up.
I am very happy with my color choice and would order it again given the six current choices.
I understand your predicament, as there is no wrong answer, it's completely subjective.

I've had several black cars and my first silver as my current ride. The silver takes no effort to keep clean and after an automatic car wash it looks perfectly clean when dry. Requiring to buffing or waxing water spots afterwards.
In the other hand a clean black is an attention magnet and looks deviously mean. Since the V would be a summer only car I plan on getting a black V and having the wheels and possible grill/trim "black chromed" that will look totally |

I am down to these two colors and you made my decision ever harder. Which wheels are on these two? are they both polished?
I'd like to see the Grey with the standard wheels. I think it's a bit more "stealthy"
Maybe I'll flip a coin. I can't go wrong, they look great. I can't wait.

As you can see from my pics that short throw was kind enough to post, I have 2 black cars, the V and SRT Viper. Before that had a black XLR-V. I am a clean/polish fanatic and these cars are a bear. I can drive to the gas station and when I get home the bumpers need cleaning.
Silver is great. Had it on my M5 and my family has 3 silver Hondas--don't hardly show any dirt.
When black is clean--it is gorgeous but you have to take the picture quickly. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
