I never really thought of it before, but I really feel sorry for you guys in the cold weather states. I live in Texas and I've never really given a consideration to winter tires or summer tires. It's rare that they bring out sand, much less salt.
I couldn't imagine getting the V2 just at the time that you really shouldn't be driving it. But, Mike, I see from the garage at Autobahn that you do plenty well when the weather is nice, so you're still up on me. Both of the Vs pictured are beautiful. I'd love to make a trip up there to the club sometime. Nothing close to that here in the Houston area.
And, Mike...Thanks for the support here in the forums. I've noticed that you've never failed to respond to a picture or info request, and everyone here appreciates it, no question....I swear that if someone asked you what it was like driving it with the windows down, eating a hamburger and listing to NPR, you'd respond with pictures (you climbed in trunk for Christ's sake)
Cheers,

You are right, the polished wheels don't look too blingy. My guess is because the surface area is smaller. I don't like them on the Escalade, they look like a full length mirror, because they are so much wider. I have yet to see the unpolished. I wish I could see them side by side against the grey.
Again, Congrats guys. I've ordered the grey and now get to wait till after Christmas here in Ann Arbor.

darjae | darjae,
Thank you for the kind words!
I know there is a lot of anxiety for awaiting owners/buyers. I have stewed many a time trying to decide a car color on various makes and models. Hopefully the pics and early info I'm trying to share has helped others. With more people taking delivery and sharing, we will have a great pool of information here to draw from soon. Here are some different angle shots:

chris | Chris,
You could be right.
I had a friend who drove his car 2 lanes left of me on the expressway looking over at the V while I was driving it. He said he could see the BREMBO lettering on the calipers as the wheel spokes looked see-through. I think that would be a cool pic.

Mike | I completely agree with Mike - it's the little things like the wheels covering the rims that you just don't notice until you get the car. I'll give it to GM here, they did a phenominal job so far with this car. It's better than I ever expected it to be, even with all the hype. Of course, the exhaust is still coming for me |

Dear Lord! With a pair of ducts sitting to either side, and right behind the leading edge, of the dome/cowl, the 09 V's already aggressive
front end would look pure nasty.
And a black on black 09 V is just so nasty, it's wrong! It's wrong, I tell you! Wrong! |

Mike | The more I see the polished, I may change my mind. My dealer thinks they have an un-polished on grey that is already spoken for, but I may go tonight and check it out. I want to place my order Thursday. If anyone has a pic of an unpolished wheel please post it and if it's on Thunder Grey you get bonus points.
I enjoyed being sort of stealthy in my last few cars. I like the understated cars with a monster engine. But this car is a little harder to hide the fact that it's a beast. Maybe it's time I get the bling.
I've got 48 hours to decide and then stew over it for several weeks waiting for it to hit the garage.
Thanks

I would put in some quality slim ballast phillips hids in those fogs and that would help tremendously at light output at night...especially helpful when avoiding chicago's potholes in the winter.
Also if the wheels were powdercoated a satin black or black chrome than during movement the rims would practically disappear and you would see big calipers.
I had my rims powdercoated hyperblack and my brembo calipers powdercoated a nissan brembo gold and the combo is very cool. If you guys are looking to get any powdercoating done check out this place.. http://www.readypowdercoating.com/ and ask for Dan, he did the coating for my calipers and he would do it over and over untill you were satisfied no extra charge.
Oh here is a pic of my jeep wheel.. |
