did you guys hear about the recent GTR comparison controversy with road and track?
GTR beat the z06 and 911 turbo by 5 seconds (1:5x for GTR and just over 2min for both z06 and 911 turbo). A lot of questions are being raised at the fact that z06 and 911 trashed the gtr on the top end (z06 beats gtr to 120mph by 2 sec) and they both weigh significantly less |

What magazines do you know of have the car at this moment and are testing them? Where is the link to a GM rep saying that GM will be releasing the numbers "soon" What does soon mean? Obviously with the car coming out "soon", and the ring opening up again "soon" there will be performance numbers "soon". When the hell is "soon"? If you cannot answer that question specifically, you have nothing. Also 4.0 has been said by every magazine. Its not hard to get real close when you have the numbers in the formula to figure it out. HP and tq to weight and gearing figures. Talk to any Caddy dealer and you are all quoting magazine numbers and they will pretty much be spot on. The interesting thing to see will be the auto vs. manual numbers.

The answer is sooner, so I figured I'd just give everyone a heads-up.
I don't consider any of the information I share here "stupid" (to use your word). The picture I posted here of the shift paddles is the only one in existence on the Internet. I've sat in the car. I posted the information about the Automatic being available back when the car was in Camo, LONG before any of the magazines confirmed it. I confirmed the CTS coupe when it was still a rumor. When everyone was coming here and reposting Motor Trend's erroneous rumor that the CTS-V would have the LS7, I was telling people not to believe it. Heck, I've even got the fluid specs and dimensions for the cast iron diff sitting on my desk.
I know most Salesman couldn't know less about their product (especially the V), but my contributions here stand on their own merit. Some of you guys kill me- you all complain that Salesman know less about the product than you do, but when you come across a Salesman who not only owns the car, but takes time to post up advance information, you jump all over me.
I think it's worthwhile to let people know that the test vehicles have been built at LGR and we won't have to wait too much longer for performance data, but if you don't then I apologize for wasting the 20 seconds it took to read the post.

Until they give media clearance, I can't discuss it. |

Don't they get it the same time as us? |

Of course they get advance info. One of the Lindsay guys posted about the differential recall months before the "official" press release. |

The typical Salesman standing on the corner with the sunglasses and Starsky & Hutch moustache doesn't know things about the cars even when they're sitting on the lot.
If a Salesman is committed to their job and takes the time to sign up for classes and training events however, then yes, we get a lot of advanced information. I've also been with Cadillac for a long time and managed to secure some pretty good channels of information with people in Product Development and Service/Technical. While I don't have a hotline to Bob Lutz or anything, there are people in address book I can call to find things out. |
