True - I wonder of the hood or trunk lid are traditional steel or something else.

Re: Drag Racing

The hood on V1 is not steel so with mostly carry-over parts and design, V2 may also be made out of a wet noodle.

Re: Drag Racing

I know the base CTS is a lot more rigid, and that it was designed to be the platform a V upgrad from the beginning, unlike the V1.

I wonder if there are off the shelf torque converters that will drop in. If so you could pair a peakier high RPM cam with a higher RPM stall speed converter to improve dragstrip performance pretty economically.

Re: Drag Racing

R&T is worried about 200 lbs the ZR-1 will gain over the Z06, even with MRC they don't think the shocks are the silver bullet to hiding weight. The V2 is gaining almost 400 lbs over V1, should we be worried?

Still don't think it will be near the Z06 with a bad driver.

Re: Drag Racing

Shocks don't really do a lot to hide weight when drag racing. But clearly the MRC allows a lot better drag racing launch, transferring the weight to the back where it is very handy on launch, very close to true drag shocks. The Z06 is arguably less of a drag car than the new V, even though it is quicker in the 1/4 mile.

Did you mean to post to a different thread?

Re: Drag Racing

Based on the ring video and the no wheel hop video, I am thinking drag racing will be a piece of cake for this car. Just the right slicks alone could make a huge difference.

Re: Drag Racing

Just remember!

If you are not breaking stuff you are not driving hard enough!

Slicks/drag radials are very unforgiving to bad lauch techniques (ie the 5000+ rpm hold and then drop the clutch is not GOOD!). Not the tires/tyres themselves mind you but they will quickly find the weak link in the drive train.
