09V service- My beef

Remove this ad
So, you have all heard me say this before... I really hope that GM fixes their Dealer network... I cant IMAGINE my current dealer trying to fix the 09 V.... They can barely fix my current V... And not every dealer can be a "Lindsay"

So, GM, I know you read this: Either let us take the car to a Chevrolet dealership for driveline work or better yet TRAIN YOUR DEALERS RIGHT... a person who buys this car is not a 80 year old grandma who doesnt know spark plugs from butt plugs.

I dont EVER want to hear a dealer lie to me about fixing something or not know how to fix the car. Im sick of telling them what to do to fix the issues.

That AND/OR, they better make this thing REALLY reliable...

The above thread applies to EVERYONE but lindsay Cadillac- They DO know how to service a V. Maybe GM should send their guys down to VA to learn a thing or two about how to service V customers BEFORE the 09 comes out.

/rant off

Re: 09V service- My beef

He's definetly fired up tonight.

He is right about the dealer network.
If they don't step it up, all the hard work designing the new CTS will be lost.

Jim is making a funny because Reed doesn't get to spend as much time here anymore.

Reed has a valid point, but this is one thing I do not think will change. They may have redesigned the Gen 1 CTS-V into the Gen 2 09V, but the dealerships will have stayed back in the 1st Gen. of service knowledge.(Lindsay and possibly a couple of others are an exception).

It was another thing I thought about when going ahead and deciding to get the STS-V now and give the 09V a few years to get out, fix the initital issues with the design and give the dealerships time to learn on other peoples cars before considering getting one and letting them service it.
But I also think Cadillac has thrown down a gauntlet to the other major players (Merc Benz, BMW, Audi) and in 2 to 3 years we'll see what they bring to the table to compete.

Re: 09V service- My beef

Reed, I couldn't agree more. My Caddy service depts. are absolutely laughable. These sloths wouldn't hold due diligence in a feed barn. I would rather go to the dentist than take my V, or any of my GM vehicles for that matter, to the dealer for service. I am getting heartburn just typing this.....

Re: 09V service- My beef

Just wondering if the dealerships that sell an 09 V will also get their tech's trained to maintain what they sold.

I'm sure 1 tech in every dealer will be required to take a web course or some other joke of a training.

It's more the mindset of the dealer techs as opposed to their training.
The problem is most dealers, from the service writer to the techs, really don't care about you or your car.
They just want to do what is easiest for them.
Which in most cases, is not fix your car or cause some other damage attempting to fix it and hope you don't notice.

Re: 09V service- My beef

Funny, Vette owners want the option of being serviced by a Caddy dealership because of lack of service they receive.

5-7 years to get the cars turned around while keeping the trucks at the top. GM does not even own the dealerships...I think we'll all be be to old to drive when ever the dealers are turned around.

Re: 09V service- My beef

Here in Canada, Cadillacs are sold by some specially designated Chev dealers. Knowledge of clutches from one dealership here is zero. I don't know how they service Cobalts and Vettes. I did interview a service manager from another dealership. He is a former GM district rep or whatever they call him. Also has racing experience with exotic cars. I'm hoping when I take the V in to that dealership they will have some knowledge of it. Time will tell. Actually, I would also sooner go to see my dentist, she actually knows what she is doing.
