With the size engine and the weight of the car, I'm going to guess the auto version will be 12mpg city and 20mpg hwy. Hello Gas Guzzler tax

Judging by past threads in the CTS and STS-V forums it would appear the answer your question is yes.

I agree with StealthViggen: If you are going to upgrade to a 550HP V and pay 60 thousand plus you need to expect that you will be paying 4 dollars at the pump with limited fuel savings...

You are not the real big dogs unless your car breaks the $75,000 barrier. Don't ever do that again. My eyes hurt.

Re: Anyone want to guess what the gas mileage will (won't) be on a 6.2 ltr engine ?

Couple of questions. What did the fuel mileage do when Chevy switched from a 6.0 to 6.2L? Is GM using Direct Port injection in the new V, like they did with the '08 CTS. If not, why? Just curious.

Is there an electronic clutch on the SC? If so that will help the mpg a little. I am guessing 14 and 20.

Re: Anyone want to guess what the gas mileage will (won't) be on a 6.2 ltr engine ?

Using the STS-V as a reference, it's a 4.4 ltr SC'd engine and the car weighs approx. 4200 lbs as an automatic. On the sticker it's rated at 12mpg city and 19 hwy. It looks like the 09 CTS-V is going to be close to that weight with a larger base engine. It will be curious to see how they compare.

I don't care, unless gas goes over $4 or $5 a gallon anytime soon.

It has 550HP and 550lb-ft of torque, if we drive it I think 8-10mpg would be great. If you set cruise on the highway I'm sure it'll be somewhere in the 20's.

Re: Anyone want to guess what the gas mileage will (won't) be on a 6.2 ltr engine ?

By the time the car makes it into the hands of the owners, we could be at 4.00 a gallon. (Isn't some of the Calif folks close to that now ?)
