I noticed the first gear in the Auto is 4.02 compared to 2.66 in the manual. The second and third are also quite different.
That’s a big difference - anybody can explain?
I predict that the auto will outaccelerate the manual. Intended?

The fact that you can use regular fuel means that the computer has lots of ways to control the ignition.

Forged wheels are great, but 19 may still eat up some HP.

Do the paddle turn with the wheel?

Navi & radio voice activated?

Surprisingly high drag coefficient 0.355.

By looking at the engine bay, battery seems to be in the trunk

I was hoping for an AWD-V, but I guess those Subaru pieces they use in the CTS can not handle the 550 lb-ft.

The fuel tank is a bit small.
But that's nit picking now.

Roadcourse guys don't shift in the middle of turns!

The automatic transmission C6 Corvette has similar weight to power and ratios and similar gear ratios. Figure the same performance of mid 12's @ 116 MPH. Probably be a real loose torque converter for easy spool up of rpms. Which means no towing.

The Corvette ( I have a 2007 A6 ) does have the same trans. ratios.
The final drive, however, is 2.56:1.
( optional for 2008 = 2.73:1 )

My calculations indicate that the final drive ratio of 3.73 in this new CTS-v will mean another ( 3 – 4 ) shift required before the end of the quarter mile.
( The Corvette clears the lights in Third. )
Looks like that shift will occur at approx. 105 MPH.

With this amount of TQ???
This ratio choice seems rather odd, to me.
And will not help EPA or real World fuel mileage at cruising speeds . . .

My answers based on what I know (which isnt much):

The Battery is definitly in the trunk (as the 08 CTS is)- right rear of the trunk to be specific

Nav is voice activated just like the base CTS.... the voice activation isnt that grat, but you can use the touchscreen while driving (GM listened on that one when we complained)


No answer yet on the paddles...

My opinion is that GM will use the Performance traction managment with the higher gear on the auto to put more power to the ground. They will use torque managment to help the car hook better because they can do that on an auto tranny... I think they didnt need that on the manual because the driver can do that by slipping the clutch... Could also do with the stall speed of the torque converter on the auto (due to the high HP/TRQ). This could be all wrong cause sometimes I am retarded...

Here's my guess:

1) The auto will be faster because 90% of enthusiasts only think they can drive a stick.
2) 1/4 mile times will be 12.2X's at over 120mph. And I'll be damned disappointed if it's not that fast.
3) "Launch control", although called something else is there to protect rear diff's and preservce warranties. (M5 has the same thing). I don't have an issue with it.
4) 18 gallon fuel tank is reasonable, depending on mileage. Anyone want to venture a guess? 15city20hwy for the auto, 17/22 for the manual? I currently get 22.5 hwy with my SRT8 and I've got a 17.5 gallon tank. It may be larger, but that's the most I've ever gotten it to take.

BTW - Has anything been posted regarding the rear diff' and suspension. I'm assuming IRS and limited slip.
