Would it be too much to ask to get a rear diff rated for whatever power they throw into the new V? And while they are at it, how about doing a design that doesn't put the shifter location on the trans well up the tunnel so that a funky awkward shift linkage isn't needed this time around?
fix those two things and I might be back GM...
My V was purchased by GM as a lemon. Long story. 05. My current hot rod is a 69 Camaro with a LT1 / 4LE60, but I'm looking to get into a newer sedan or coupe in 2008. Currently the short list includes M3, M5 and S4, but I have a watchful eye out for the new CTS-V, the G8 poncho and the new Camaro as outside possibilities. |

The S4 shouldn't even be on that list. RS4 is a better comparison. |

We own three different variants of the T-56 transmission... one in a 2001 Z06, one in a 2003 Mustang Cobra, and one in a 2006 CTS-V. All of them suck. None of them shift smooth and between them all I have done everything possible... clutch, pp, flywheel, tob, tob sleeve, input/output shafts, synchros, linages, a variety of shifters, fluids, quadrants, firewall adjustors... everything. After all the money they all still suck.
I don't know what trans GM is planning on running in new Vettes and V's, but I am hoping it doesn't come from Tremec. It is the worst part of each of the cars I listed above. |

My buddy who is a GM tech is saying that the new ZR1 Corvettes will probably only be offered with a paddle shifter auto because they cant find a manual that will consistantly hold the power the engine will put out. Assuming that the CTS-V will have the same engine (detuned or not) I would guess it will only get the auto as well. |

Won't happen. GM knows how many people buy the cars with the manual transmission, no way they drop it altogether. |

I would not have purchased my '05 V w/o manual. |

That G8 already has killer mods out by the Aussies including a 600 hp twin turbo and the first LS7 dropped in it. The do not drop diffs but they still cannot get the power to the ground out of the hole LOL.
I may decide to get by with a G8 GT until the V comes out. It's either that or an STS-V. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
