| | Cadillac Owners Enthusiast | | | | | Who has a deposit down so far? Details? How much was it, is it fully refundable, what kind of price guarantee did you get (MSRP, $2000 below MSRP, etc), what kind of required dealer add on charges do you have to pay (admin fees, dealer packaging fees, etc)......
I'm tempted to pull the trigger but want to see what kind of deals others are getting. |

No idea what it will cost. The only directive right now, which is subject to change, is black on black with every option. Once details are available, we'll spec it, and they'll run my credit card, if I still want it.
Right now they are just holding my credit card number. I told them we'll place the order or walk as soon as we see what happens in Detroit. |

I became very familiar with GM's allocation methodology when trying to get a Solstice GXP a few years ago. Does anyone know how GM will allocate new V's and where they will go? If you have a deposit down on a dealer that will not get an allocation until 2009 then it don't mean chit. If you think about it there are thousands of dealers so you will not only want to be #1 on a list but #1 at the right dealer. Then you are talking about MRSP+. I don't mind paying MSRP but can easily see it creeping over $70k based upon the 550hp monster that everyone is expecting.
BTW... another lesson learned from my Solstice experience is that no one admits to paying more than MSRP but lots of people do. |

Against all advice here, I actually like the sunroof. I guess that's why it's optional though. |

Heh, early adopter tax. Happened to a lot of people here. I got my V almost 1 year to the day after they were released. I got mine at employee price + a bunch of extra's added in (can you say corsa & fg2 for free). If you want it early you will pay. If you wait a bit, MSRP or better will be yours.

-Chris | I paid $1K off MSRP in August 2004 on a 2005 V.
If, and a big if as I will need a bigger garage as the '05 V ain't leaving before my death, I buy next gen V, I would wait until 2010 model year due to lower price and hopefully any issues would be remedied. |

But, I also just bought a house and don't foresee having any extra money to spend on a shiny new Cadillac for at least 5 years. Bummer for me. But I will (hopefully) always have my '04 V.
BACK ON TOPIC:
I can't believe anyone would put down a deposit on a car that hasn't even been unveiled yet. I think I would bet that the new V will be very cool, but that isn't for sure. I, personally, have more of a wait-and-see attitude when it comes to new model vehicles. Or maybe I am only saying that because I am jealous and there is absolutely no way I could afford a new one...

In my case, I know I am getting a new car, no later than next summer. I have a shortlist of cars I am looking at.
If the V is a relative dud when it's announced, then I'll move on with something else in January or February. If it is a stud, then I'll hold out until summer. If it won't be released until the end of next year, then I'll move on early in the year regardless of what it looks like. |
