I'll still have my maggied 05 to rock gears in. But in my refined daily driver, I'll need one hand for the Blackberry and the other to do my makeup.

You are right, when Ford made an auto available, that is when the car went mainstream and straight into the crapper. (On a side note, I would love to see a return of the SHO, on the Fusion maybe. The Mazda 6 platform is currently the best front driver on the market and an SHO Fusion would be an awesome daily driver.)
