OK, I have read all kinds of threads on this as has everyone. I just wanted to get some final confirmations before I spend all that money.
Parts List:
LS7 Clutch Setup (Clutch and Pressure Plate)
LS7 Flywheel
LS7 Slave
LAPD Bleeder
Confirm:
1. With this setup, is it a direct bolt in (notching trans or not and\or spacer)?
2. What is needed to install the LAPD bleeder (ie positioning, bending, installing, remove bleeder screw etc.)
3. Do we need throwout bearing for LS7?
4. Best clutch fluid to use?
5. Part number for new bolts?
Thanks, Jeff
PS. I know this has been covered several times over but the info is very confusing.
Parts List:
LS7 Clutch Setup (Clutch and Pressure Plate)
LS7 Flywheel
LS7 Slave
LAPD Bleeder
YUP
Amsoil RBF600
ARP LS flywheel bolt kit
Confirm:
1. With this setup, is it a direct bolt in (notching trans or not and\or spacer)? Not exactly the LS7 whip is much longer and requires special routing slave changes from exiting the bellhousing from the top to the side
2. What is needed to install the LAPD bleeder (ie positioning, bending, installing, remove bleeder screw etc.) you can flip the bleeder screws around and no bending is needed.. but yeah you obviously need to remove the bleeder screw and when you do that it breaks the seal of the quick connect... so 100% must bleed the snot out of it. Position it where you want
3. Do we need throwout bearing for LS7? it comes with the LS7 slave..
4. Best clutch fluid to use? Motul RBF600 or any racing dot4
5. Part number for new bolts? ARP makes a kit for 20-30 bucks... get it
You do not need flex plate bolts. Those bolts would obviously be for an automatic transmission. All you need are pressure plate bolts and flywheel bolts. The stock flywheel bolts are not reusable at all. The pressure plate bolts I dont know but just buy the ARP's. With the LS7 slave, no spacer is needed and you can install the slave in the same position as stock, just becareful of the hard line coming out of the slave. You will have to "adjust" it so make sure you dont kink it. The LAPD bleeder will screw right in the LS7 slave and just snake it out of the old bleeder hole. Everything I just said is done to my car and I did it so I know it works. Any more questions feel free to ask.
Why all the sudden is everybody talking about new bolts? When I did my clutch questions thread, nobody said $hit about that. Come on guys.....I'm about to tear into mine this weekend!

The author of this thread asked for bolt part numbers so I went to my ARP catalog and provided a complete information "dump", including the much needed automatic transmission flex plate bolts.
Thanks everyone for the good info. I ordered the ARP flywheel and pressure plate bolt kits.
I have always changed bolts when replacing a clutch setup. I have always heard that those bolts are designed to stretch some when they get torqued so they should only be used once.
I put a link to this thread in the FAQ sticky. When you guys get your clutches installed, do us a favor and take some pictures of the parts and installation if possible.
There's no rule that says "One writeup only per install". I'd love for both you guys to do it, as I'm sure each of you will mention different things to look out for.
I don't recommend getting an LS7 clutch there has been someone else on here with engagement and disengage problems, i make 430rwhp and drive my car aggressive if your bolt ons or stock and don't beat on it then go ahead but i have had nothing but night mares im on the 2nd set of hydrolics i can't shift over 5k RPM. i also have a Mcleod RST twin disk sitting under my desk now
Please check out our clutch before you decide. We have a disc that will drive just as friendly but hold alot more abuse, with a gb of $699 and a weight savings of about 15 lbs less than the ls7!
