Besides air leaks and other minor problems, questionable chrome can be an issue. My chromed OEM 2005 CTS-V wheels looked great initially, but after about 30K miles, two of the wheels have developed flaking chrome. The Vogue manager who provided the wheels would rechrome the failing wheels at no cost to me, but he cannot find chrome OEM wheels to exchange with my failing wheels (small numbers, six lugs, etc.) The alternative is to send my failing chrome wheels back for rechroming and then put them back on my car after they are rechromed (two tire removal and reinstall cycles). I have decided not to pursue this and will wait for the 2009 CTS-V.
I am interested in this OEM company that you exchanged out the wheels with. Do they have a website or do you have contact information for them? I would like to do the same thing for my V.
Reminds me of the other day (like 3 weeks ago) I stopped into a dealer I have never been to to reset my TPMs after I rotated the tires when I installed my cross drilled rotors. They get the numbers blah blah blah and he says "Its gonna be $30". I said are you f'in kiddin me? and figured I could live knowing that they are backwards till I can get them reset for free from my tire guys.
As I stated, I'll be glad to take some pics, but I don't know how to post them.
Could somebody help?
