I have 64K miles on my '05. I do a fair amount of interstate travel, and have used both premium and regular. I consistently get about 1-2 mpg more on regular at 70-85 mph cruise on interstates where the motor is at more or less a steady state with the knock sensor not retarding ignition. I have tested this in all four directions with head and tail winds. The result is always the same. In town I usually use premium because I am on the gas more.
Sorry for the late bump, but I've been offline for a while.
Almost unbelieveable, I was driving across the Chesapeake Bay bridge tunnel last week (which is about 25 miles long, and mostly flat flat flat), with the windows up, ac/heat off, in 6th @ 60 mph w/ cruise on, I averaged 27.8 mph over the 25 miles. WOW!
I guess if you lived in kansas, and could keep your foot out of it, the old lead sled can be somewhat fuel efficient.

I guess if you lived in kansas - I Do, and could keep your foot out of it - I can't, the old lead sled can be somewhat fuel efficient. - I haven't seen it happen yet. MOF I think my mileage is getting worse.

For the record my average is usually around 14 mpg, beacuse I can't keep my foot out of it either.
I awas just amazed what it could do if I really tried. I have 67k on my car, and this is really the first time I've ever tried
As a matter of interest, don't forget about Top Tier gasoline. Top Tier participants (Shell, 76, Phillips, etc.) have agreed with several auto manufacturers (GM, Honda, Toyota, etc.) to provide larger amounts and additional additives for a better product that keeps intake parts like valves cleaner. See the Top Tier web site for details.

Hell, you could put some of that in a barrell and ship it over here and it would still be cheaper than the nearly $4.00/gal we are paying!
I think whoever had my V was running reg unleaded. With the first tank it was 12.8mpg. I have only put super in and am getting 15.5mpg and my foot is alway in it. I guess I have to push harder to get to 10mpg.
