Cadillac Forums: Anyone know about GM re-aquired vehicles
I found a STS-V close to where I live the dealership states that it is a GM-required vehicle. Does this kill any chance of me reselling it down the line? The price is amazing, but I'm assuming its because it was a buyback. Anyone know about this program at all?

I don't know about IL, but here in Florida a seller is required by law to disclose when a car was a factory buyback, plus it's printed on the title. In Florida that would mean a lower trade-in down the road, but if the deal is great up front that may not matter.
At that price, I'd be more worried about accident/flood damage than a lemon buyback. I've had the chance to buy cars at the auction at prices "too good to be true", and there's always a reason.

That looks like a great deal. Given the $hitty dealership experience many of us have had. It could have been a buyback for any number of reasons that are now resolved. If you have an independent mechanic of your own have it checked out first.

Is there anyone who would be able to do that for me? I just want to make sure that there were no major issues with the car. There are a few of them out there that weren't GM reaquired that are only 5-6k more in price, so it may not be worth it if there was major trouble.

Looks like it was a leaker, perhaps engine oil and rear differential. The Radiator/interooler hose was also replaced with the timing cover, so it's possible that it threw a belt and damaged those items.
That is one heck of a deal on that car, so it's up to you if you feel good about it.

If its a buy back lemon law car the defect and fix will have to be disclosed. Ask them what the defect was. I saw a Z06 buy back that had a rear suspension problem that was fixed. I drove it and I could tell there was still something wrong in the rear. your STS-V might have had a minor fix or a major one. Ask them to disclose the reason it was bought back before you buy. Or ask to see the title and read it your self. My DTS had a faulty sun roof that leaked when it rained and the complete interior was replaced 3 times. It finally went back. SO even small sounding reasons (leaky sunroof) create big issues down the road. Do your homework... BTW there is a great deal on an 07 STS-V in the classifieds.

Thanks for the lookup Tony!
It doesn't seem to be anything too major. I'm gonna call up there and see if I can talk to someone about the car. It's 150 miles from me, so I would much rather talk to them first before driving all the way up there.
