Well my CTS isn't even a week old and the stereo is already having issues. The NAV screen rose up and got stuck on the Cadillac logo. No button would do anything. Finally I got the Nav screen up and then the Audio screen, but the HDD button won't light up. I can't access any of my music on the HDD. Any way to reset this? I did a search on the forum but couldn't find anything.
Could be a lot of things -- loose wire, bad connection, bad drive, bad computer chip, bad control panel, just to name a few. Most electronic devices seem either to work forever or they fail in the first 100 hours of use, and you is apparently in the latter category. I suspect you need to take it in for service and possible replacement.
Well after letting it sit for a few hours and starting it back up it all seems to be working fine. We'll see.
Typical of a bad connection. When the connection heats up with use, it expands and contact is broken; when it cools, it contracts and the connection is reestablished. So, if the problem recurs, you should get t checked out. Or it could be a one-time thing -- let's hope so!
Same thing happened to mine, all the radio controls would work, but the screen froze up. None of the changes I was making with the controls would be reflected on the screen. After shutting the car off for a couple of hours all went back to normal
Could be a software problem, I suppose. After all, doesn't Microsoft have a hand in it?
There is an upgrade to the NAV software that fixes things like this. It is discussed in another thread on this forum (sorry, I couldn't locate it quickly but it's in the last month or so). As Microsoft only does the OS -- the applications are written by others (Apline, etc.).
'Nuff said! In my experience, Windows XP will often hang up on the "Welcome" screen, or on the "Windows is Shutting Down" screen. Just rebooting usually fixes the problem, although on occasion it will require rebooting in safe mode. Could be something like that with the car.
It hasn't happened since it did it and I doubt it had anything to do with warming up since I was just trying to start it up for a photo shoot. I think it was a software glitch. As for the upgrade I'd assume mine has it since it's an 09 CTS.
