Go look at the RL and compare it to the CTS in equal options... they are just about the same price. Acutally, I think the RL is a few grand more...
The problem is that up until two weeks ago, you could not get it at all in a CTS.
The TL is equipped standard like a loaded CTS - for about $10,000 less. So I'd say the BT was the equivilent of being free. No point in comparing a RL. I'm the first to admit that its not worth the money. I had a TL and can tell you that in every way it's comparable to the CTS except for the front drive/rear drive difference.
Re: Bluetooth. I hope this will make some of you feel better
I wish someone would come up with a good solution so we wouldn't have to hear about it anymore. If you can't get it and it's that important, buy something else for crying out loud. Maybe talking on the phone while driving isn't as much of a necessity for me, but it certainly seems silly to me to judge a vehicle mostly based on bluetooth.
Re: Bluetooth. I hope this will make some of you feel better
I agree with lepidium. No matter how much it is discussed, it won't change the fact that CTSs built prior to this month do not have Bluetooth. I knew this when I bought my CTS and I suspect that others did as well. If you really need to talk while driving, get an external Bluetooth device or signup for OnStar or Verizon. It's that simple.
Re: Bluetooth. I hope this will make some of you feel better
Why dont you use an external bluetooth device and then use a PAC SWIX steering wheel interface to reprogram the button on the steering wheel to work with your BT kit?

you can't. in order to programm SWIX, you'll need a remote control to do that and BT will need to have IR built in.
However, there is a cool trick can be done. in the later production CTS that did not come with BT but have phone buttons on the steering wheel. those people who are familiar with resistors, relays, and volt metter, can use those factory buttons (little rewiring needed) and tap them into BT controler buttons that initiate phone calls and etc.

Actually I just had an offer from a local dealer of an Acura RL with nav. 52k sticker for 42 and change. Might actually be less comparing features. Of course the CTS blows it away in the looks department.
Also my 04 TL without nav. did have BT installed standard. It didn't work well but it had it.

That makes perfect sense. I thought you could find a BT kit with a remote, though. I am pretty sure I have seen them. Then just hide the bluetooth module in your car with the SWIX emitter pointed at it.

Congratulations. But you DO realize you are seriously in the minority, don't you? Wonder if you have cable or satellite TV ... ?
Most people are now addicted to their cell phones like crack, and BT is a HUGE help, not to mention it is virtually becoming standard equipment in all mid-level and nicer cars. On top of that, more and more states are outlawing hand-held phones in cars, so something like BT is the only realistic solution.
BTW, M-B sells BT as an add-on (for $400 in most cases) because they want you to buy their own cell phone kit instead. Sounds kinda like Caddy and OnStar, huh?
Re: Bluetooth. I hope this will make some of you feel better
I'm another one who doesn't make or take calls while driving.
I, on the other hand am very happy that BT is coming to the CTS.
I KNOW that some nimrod with a cell phone wll take me out one of these days.
If bt can improve thse odss, Iam all for it.
BTW, I have more tech thatn the average guy.
I have 52" LCD, HDTV, Intercomm, home Security sys, oscilloscopes, DVMs, Sound level Meter, sig gen, etc.,etc
And own a cll phone and use it. But never when moving in a car.
I am an ex professional driver and like to drive safe, and am esp considerate to other drivers. I am damn near unique in that regard, today I think.
