anyone come from a vette?

Hi all, I'm considering trading in my '07 c6 for a 08/09 cts. I love my vette and will probably miss it, but I would like a nice d.d. The vette only gets miles in the summer and the rest of the time i spend in a 96 bravada. 700.00 a month is a lot for three months of use a year. Does anyone think I'd be content with the caddy? I understand the performance would not be the same, but what about overall satisfaction? thanks for your input.

Re: anyone come from a vette?

Get the 09 CTS-V and you'll have a D.D. that's as fast as the C6. It'll have 567 hp, four doors, and the luxury of a CTS.

Re: anyone come from a vette?

It all depends on what you want. If you're tired of the Vette, get the CTS. You could always get something else in the future when you tire with the CTS! Enjoy

Re: anyone come from a vette?

I came from a Z28 into my 2004, so not quite the same thing, but close I suppose. The biggest thing you're going to miss is the power and immediate throttle response of the V8. You'll probably notice a small loss in fuel economy too, but not enough to worry about. But other than that, I think you'll be fine. The handling is at least as entertaining (it may not have the same absolute limit, but it's more refined IMO); the interior is nicer; and it's nice to have the extra room when necessary.

Re: anyone come from a vette?

I switched from an 2005 Coupe MN6 in which I logged 52,000 as my daily driver. I must admit the transisiton has been good. The CTS4 with the performance package has nowhere near the seat of the pants power but the driving experience has been great and it is more practical than the vette for everyday use. It has a great cockpit, good handling and the power is adequate for my cruising needs. It gets lots of compliments even from my corvette friends.

The average, suburban driving, MPG is 1 or 2 less in the 3.6 automatic, and people simply do not believe me when I tell them that. I was averaging 22 in the C6 and each tank in the CTS is between 20-21. Of course the savings is in the cost of regular vs premium. I have not made any road trips in teh CTS so I have no idea how the highway MPG will measure up to the 31 I got in the C6.

Overall, I'm glad I made the switch. And, I drove my 67 this past weekend and appreciated it much more now that the C6 is gone.

Re: anyone come from a vette?

A C6 is my daily driver. The CTS is my wife's. While I certainly like my wife's CTS, it does not put a smile on my face like driving my C6 does.

Why not just convert your C6 from a garage queen to your daily driver?

Re: anyone come from a vette?

I love the CTS, but I love my 3 vettes even more. Two of them are 60's and one is a C5. A new C6 is coming in the fall. And, of course, the CTS is staying with them.

Re: anyone come from a vette?

I did; sorta, indirectly . I had a GTO before the CTS, but I bought the GTO after trading in my '02 Vette. I'd go back to the Vette in a heartbeat, but not necessarily as a DD - the Caddy works great year-round.

Re: anyone come from a vette?

JF244 said it very well. You really can't compare the two cars directly, but I don't think you'll be unhappy with the CTS. Certainly better than the Bravada! I'll buy another Vette, but it will replace another car, not the CTS.

Smile Re: anyone come from a vette?

Had a C4 (175,000 mi.)as a DD, then a C5 (65,000 mi.) as a DD. I thought I was ready for a change. The only mistake I made was selling it to my neighbor. Now I see the damn thing quite often and have to tell myself "Damn that was a cool car" I do think the CTS is a very good looking car and I am happy with it.
