It's actually the best for your car...no chance of swirl marks. However, in my area I noticed that some work better than others. The touchless close to my house doesn't clean well.

I have noticed the same. I like the one Mobil has. The local gas station doesn't do a good job with the rims and lower body.
It's better than nothing...won't fully clean things properly and doesn't use the best grade of soaps, but at least won't touch and scratch things (like a regular car wash).
I know many people who use these as "touch ups" for in between their regular careful hand washes when they've just driven through muck or haven't had the time to wash yet, so no worry.
Is touchless car wash okay for my car? I heard it's not safe for the clear coat?
Just watch what kind of towel their wiping your car off with and if their wiping your car off with the same towel as the previous car, they could mess up your whole finish just by the towel they use. when its to cold out to wash my car myself I usually hand the guy at the car wash who's wiping my car off a shamy (if thats how you spell it).
i don't like touchless, because usually the chemicals they use are far more abrasive. they may not leave swirls, but they'll strip off your wax
Essentially, in a lot of cases, yes. I know people that use them "if they must", but don't make a regular thing of it. Nothing beats a careful hand wash with quality mits and towels, but sometimes that just isn't possible, and that kind of pressure wash--even if it isn't the best--is better than nothing.
I like to handwash my cars. However, we are in drought situation and car washing at home is banned. I have no choice, I have to use touchless....beter than not washing the car.......
rather than a touchless car wash, i'll take mine to one of those bays, where you pay $0.75, and get to pressure wash it for 4 minutes...
i'd do that in a heartbeat over a touchless car wash, but then again, i'd do a touchless car wash in a heartbeat over a gas-station-drive-through-car-wash.
in my experience, Mister Car Wash (i don't know where they have locations, but they're all over Houston) has the best wash. drive through, has like 4 layers of brushes, they wash them regularly, and hand drive it at the end. you'd think it would scratch up the car, but it doesn't. i've seen lamborghinis and porsches go through it on a regular basis, and i take mine through at LEAST 4 days a week. car's usually in about as good condition when it comes out as it is when i hand wash it. cleans the wheels (pressure wash), dresses the tires, and when it's all said and done, layers it with a 'protectant', which essentially acts as a wax (reduces swirls and everything).
still. not the biggest fan of your every-day, run-of-the-mill touchless car wash
