Minor Shifter complaint...anyone else?

I have the automatic with the 304hp engine. When I pop the shifter to right to go in to sport mode, I usually keep my hand on the knob for no good reason...(maybe reliving my GTI days...)...

Anyways, when I corner hard, and my body pulls to the side, I usually end of popping the shifter back to D instead of Sport Mode. It would be nice if there was a little gate or something it passed through or an over and down motion just to keep it locked in place..

Minor gripe, I know...and the best solution is to have both hands on the wheel instead of one on shifter and one on wheel...but...still...anyone else experience this?

oh... i have the same experience, but the other side around. That thing shift to sport mode from D when i made a big lefty on the bridge lol

Yep, had this exact thing happen to me today on an off ramp.......guess i should keep two hands on the wheel.

Not a complaint, but I have accidentally downshifted while in Sport Mode.

the only gripe I have is that the shifting should be reversed. It should be push down on the shifter to downshift, and pull back on it to upshift.

could always swap it for an '09 w/ paddles...

too true...but there is just a natural feel to having one hand on the wheel and one on the shifter.

IMO, the sport gate should be to the left - toward the driver.

Hmm, I dunno who taught youse guys those bad habits, but back in the days when dirt was born

, my driver's ed instructor enforced the 9 and 3
hands on wheel hold or you didn't pass. Next time you watch a motor race, check in the in car footage to see where the pros keep their hands.
