What is the deal with the cts's!? I have been trying for a couple weeks now to get a fully loaded 08 cts, black on black. I have a really good price on one that the dealer thought he could do a trade with another dealer but was sold. I can save even more money if I buy the car this month, but I can't find one!!
As of right now the only color around fully loaded is hot lava. Did gm not make enough cars or what? I know they are on strike but don't know how long they have been and if the strike will end soon.
When they return to work are they going to continue making 08's or start making the 09's?
GM is not on strike. Some union local haven't gotten a contract settlement and are striking only for local issues. The Grand River plant that produces the CTS is in fact running wide open and the workers have agreed to only one week vacation instead of two. Dealers mostly only order for stock a variety of lower priced cars. If your wanting a fully loaded CTS you will have to order and wait for it, plan on a 8-10 week wait. Mine was a 10 1/2 week wait and well worth it.
It's just a hot car, and has been common, once any hit the lot, most are sold in little time. So even trying to get one swapped from another dealer is a low chance thing, especially on an extra hot combo (such as a loaded black car).
Oddly enough, we actually ran into the same thing with the new '08 Malibu we bought in January. Half the price of a loaded CTS, but they were still in only about month 2 and not only in short supply, but if you could find one elsewhere, other dealers didn't want to trade because they themselves couldn't get many.
So, hot car syndrome. There are plenty out there, and I'm sure others that match your criteria if they expand the search out more. Even if they can't or won't go much further...you can, and go directly where a matching car is and bargain to get the same kind of deal.
I found two black on black, msrp 49,290. One is north about 80 miles and the other south about 120miles. The one north, the car is in transit to the dealer and should be there any day. the other is on the lot.
What goes on with service when needed? I should be able to take it any gm dealer, right?
Good luck ordering a CTS, and just hope you don't need any information from customer service. I ordered a Lt. Platinum CTS on February 21st and nine weeks after that date, Cadillac posted "built out" on my order. My dealer doesn't know what that means, and Cadillac's first and second tier customer service reps don't know what that mean and they told me that my dealer had to work with the Dealer Business Cener. Coincidence, they don't know what that means either. To date, Cadillac has not contacted me or my dealer with respect to the status of my order. We think they just decided to drop my order. I guess they would rather see me buy a BMW. Amazing!!!
I will now miss the 1.9% finance offer and the $1,000 customer loyalty offer and now I will have to absorb the '09 price hike. I have repeatedly asked Cadillac for a response and to date have received nothing. It has been eleven weeks now and no word.
My dealer found identical cars that they might be able to trade for, but they had 300 miles for whatever reason. I wanted to be the one to put the first 500 miles on the car, not whomever.
I bought my CTS out of state, and get service locally with no problem. Go for the car you want that is already built. Should be no need to wait, but you may need to travel to get it.
