I can't make up my mind. What do you guys/gals think? Should I purchase the 2008 CTS, or wait for the 2009 with Bluetooth? I plan on purchasing, not leasing and I'll have the car for several years. Word is Cadillac is definitely adding factory installed Bluetooth for 2009. I don't want to purchase the 2008 and regret it later. Yet, I test drove one last Saturday and I've been completely seduced. I don't know if I can wait another year. I'd appreciate some advice.
I would love to have bluetooth....but as you cannot wait....just remember there will always be somethng better, newer....
personnaly I canlive without bluetooth....
Yeah, I know, but I'm not sure I want to be stuck with a car without Bluetooth two years from now when by then even a Toyota Corolla comes with it standard.
when i buy my cadillas......the only thing i really want most is the best stero system.....i had the 2004 cts with the xm. i would never give that up. i really like it......the 70 station rocks lol......get the 2008 cts life is to short.......
So, for $50, buy a BT headset and get the 2008. The only time I use my BT headset is in the car, and I want it available for whatever car I'm in at the time, so I'd rather have it be a headset anyway. If you're worried about the fashion statement, pony up for the OnStar phone and use that.
Menawhile what's their excuse for not putting bluetooth in probably the best thing they have built in a long time? I love Cadillac and my 08 CTS is on order but WTF are these guys smoking? I don't need or want bluetooth but can understand those that do.
Actually, I already have a BT headset. It's just more conveinient and comfortable to be able to use the car's BT. I spoke to a Cadillac Rep in their Marketing Research Division. She couldn't really answer why they ommitted that feature. She seemed stumped. We talked for a while and we both concluded that the design team must have just been so focused on other things that it was just an oversight. Now I'm starting to think they knew they were leaving it out, but were rushing to get the car finished in time for the first roll out. They probably thought they could just add it on the 2009 model. They obviously underestimated customer demand for BT. Design engineers aren't necessarily cell phone savy.
Couldn't care less. It just takes over when you are in range and shuts off the tunes to ring the phone. When I'm in my car, I'd rather not bother talking to anyone unless it's an emergency.
I want a V but still got a regular CTS for this years driving pleasure.
I would just buy it. My guess is that the car is already designed to accept some sorta bluetooth upgrade module anyhow. I am quite sure the infotainment system is extremely upgradable and such so that it can be incorpated into all levels of GM vehicles with various featureset levels from one car to the next. That being said, I am guessing that the dealer will be able to add the Bluetooth to the 2008's in a pretty much identical way to how it is implimented in the 2009's when they come out. I cannot garuntee this, but I am pretty sure that is how this will play out. I actually think I have read that the european intro of the 2008 CTS has been planned to have bluetooth from day one. They can't even try to sell onstar there, so having a BT option doesn't tread on the onstar money machine. GM's biggest reason for not proliferating Bluetooth more is mostly for onstar reasons. They make a lot more money selling phone plans through onstar than they can if they offer bluetooth in too many cars. So they they have only offered it in the STS so far. The STS was expected to sell in pretty low volumes, so I doubt they were worried about loosing some onstar phone plan sales with them. Just my $.02's.
honestly, I would have never thought it would be possible, but BT has become a must have for me. It's shocking because I hate talking on the phone, I guess I hate talking on the phone and trying to drive at the same time even more
My mom has it in her Lexus and it's such a pleasure- a real luxury over having that damn headset in your ear.
I would seriously wait. you can do it! By then you won't be buying a first year car either.
