ummm.. that video is terrible. Having to turn the volume up & down, having to hit the button a few times to hang up correctly (or hold it down). Looked real annoying to me .
The system, called BlueConnect, must be professionally installed by the dealership, as it is not a standard "clip-on" Bluetooth device. BlueConnect is compatible with most Bluetooth-capable phones. Further details about phone compatibility can be found on JCI's website, http://www.jciblueconnect.com. "
==========
So, anyone got the balls to be the first to try this? A lot of us want to know how it looks, integrates and performs. I'm not gonna be the guinea pig, though. Not a chance.
I'm sorry you feel that way, because every dicussion has two sides. The fact that you want Bluetooth doesn't negate the fact that there are valid resons not to incorporate it. Perhaps GM's decision to wait until a better solution comes along explains why they have blown past Mercedes and BMW in customer satifaction on almost every major survey.
GM has done a fantastic job looking at their competition. Cadillac offers so many features not available AT ALL on competitors- to list a few:
-Dual depth and rate frontal airbags (industry first)
-Lazer brazing assembly process
-Advanced crash notification through OnStar
-Hand cut & sewn interior components
-Interior accent lighting
-40GB HDD with radio buffering (industry exclusive)
-and many others....
Bluetooth is just one of many features a car can have, and it happens to be one that you want. There's plenty of people out there (myself included) that would rather have the things I listed above, PLUS better styling AND a nicer interior for LESS MONEY than the competition.
I'm starting to sound like a commercial, so I'll chill out for a while now. It's just my opinion, so take it for what it's worth.
I wouldn't say for less money. At a MSRP of 46k, you're in leagues with some pretty nice cars.
The M35 is a bigger car with pretty much all the features and more of the CTS.
Bluetooth should be an option on a car that's 46k. Those that want it will buy it. Those that don't, don't. Having a stupid head piece on your ear is not a option when you're used to having intergrated Bluetooth. This had to be a major overlook on GM's part.
BTW, I took the simple approach and, as a prospective customer, Emailed Cadillac regarding the lack of a suitable Bluetooth integration. Here is the reply:
" Bluetooth will not be available as a factory installed feature for the 2008 CTS. However, it will be featured as standard equipment on all 2009 model rear Cadillac vehicles. Also, Cadillac recently announced the availability of a factory-licensed Bluetooth hands-free cell phone system. "
At least it's progress, especially for anyone that doesn't want to visit a 3rd-party installer.
Anyone know if the JCI solution integrates into the display to show callerid?

I looked at several sites, including one that had an installation manual, and none of them mention using the video display, so that's a bummer. It supports voice commands and is supposed to mute the stereo for incoming calls.
Also, I was in a 2008 yesterday with the sunroof, and I'd want to know where they will install the unit. The examples I saw looked like they were from an Escalade or other SUV.

I did one today. It was ok.
customer was very happy. and I think that's what counts.
everything matched ok,
the only negative part I can say, for what it does (as far as features), that unit is way over_priced.
unfortunately did not have a chance to take pics. my whole day was like a rollercoaster. but I am sure I'll do some more of those
Any ideas when the 2009 models will be at dealerships?
beleive most MY productions end in July.....normal plant shutdown for retooling, vacation etc......so I wouldnt expect 09 Models before late Aug early Sept 08....my guess

How much does that system cost installed? Does it integrate with the display screen?
Even though I don't have my CTS any longer the information I had recieved in regards to a bluetooth availability will only work with vehicles that have the navigation. There will be a software upgread that will only work with NAV based vehicles. You will only be able to make and recieve calls. It won't have an address book etc.
