CTS Rims (Polished vs. Non Polished)

Is there any difference between these rims material wise? Are they the same except one is painted instead of polished?

My 17" rims that was a part of the Spt/Lux pakage are polished. It's more of a satin finish. The painted are closer to a flat finish. Of course the highest luster is the chrome. Has anybody given thought of having their rims painted the body color? I think it would look good on certain colors..mainly the darker colors?

How about a body color rim with a polished lip

Re: CTS Rims (Polished vs. Non Polished)

So the rims are exactly the same except for the finish? The reason I ask is because I found a set of the 05 17" Polished Rims w/Tires for $650. I can get a set of the painted ones for around $100 less.

In the future I was thinking about sending them out to get chromed $500 and if the rims are the same it would be a wasted $100 to spend more now for the polished ones?

I really like chrome but right now nothing is in my budget that I like.

Tom

Tom, You probably know I just unloaded a set of chrome rims. The area behind the spokes are difficult to reach, to clean and to wax. In just the few Ohio winter months my chrome was pitting rather badly. I wouldn't consider chrome again. It may be OK for the FL & CA guys but the salt really trashes chrome finishes.

YUCK...... That seems to be a favorite of new VW Bug drivers. A bit tacky for a CTS.

Re: CTS Rims (Polished vs. Non Polished)

Not sure if the painted ones may have had manufacturing defects filled before being painted. If you strip the paint, you may not have a perfect rim. Just a thought, they could all be perfect, but you never know.

They crank out to many painted rims for them to be painted blems. But maybe a few get passed on to the public.

They shoud be the exact same wheel just with different finishes.

I have a set of 04 painted ones (same as 05) with tires if you want them. 2 of them are in perfect shape. The other two have very slight curb rash. $500 plus shipping. PM me if you want photos.
