Question About CTS Purchase...Please Help!

Remove this ad
I'm about to buy an 06 CTS from a dealer. I put a $150 deposit down already. The car has 29000 miles on it. I did a carfax and it looks pretty clean. The only thing I'm concerned with is that the last odometer reading on the carfax is 100 miles. There are no other service descriptions or anything, just 100miles and where the vehicle was registered as a Lease vehicle to it's only 1 owner.

Should I be concerned about all this?
Is it bad to buy a lease 3 years old with 1 owner?
Is there any type of Rev limiter or Governor on this vehicle I should ask the dealer to remove because it is a lease?
Is there anyway to track down the previous owner and ask them some questions?

Secondly,
These CTS V body kit part numbers that I see on this website, are they the real CTS V parts? I know they are not OEM but what I mean is, is it the exact same styling?

Thanks, any help would be great, I'm about to go to the dealer soon.

Re: Question About CTS Purchase...Please Help!

As far as the carfax its nothing to sweat. Just means that nothing has happened that warrants reporting to carfax, thus nothing has really happened to the car.

So are you saying there is a rev limiter or governor on a lease?

All Cadillacs have rev limiters.

Re: Question About CTS Purchase...Please Help!

My 04 MT CTS only has a rev limiter just over the redline -- I rarely hit it. I had a DTS out for a spin and I noticed its rev limiter is around 4500RPMS or so. I think it's only on automatics.

Yeah, CARFAX is not very reliable, in my experience. I've checked VINS that I KNOW were in reported car accidents and nothing came up on CARFAX. I just don't think its very thorough. The GM VIS will give you the real repairs on the car. Look that over carefully as it could be a harbinger of things to come.
