| | | grey area headlights/eyelids paint hey guys,
How do i go about painting the grey area on my headlights?? Lots of ppl here did it, but i never got the proper procedure or a step by step instruction. Also, i was looking into the eyelids decals but they dont come in white diamond color and i desperately need to paint that area cuz it looks like crap. |

| | | Re: grey area headlights/eyelids paint When mine started looking like that the dealerhip replaced them under warranty. If you're not under warranty, the first step is going to have to be wet sanding them really well to get rid of that layer that is peeling. |

| | | Re: grey area headlights/eyelids paint Before I got my CTS, someone tried to wax mine and ended up leaving a very bad stain. Any way to get that out? If I don't have a choice I might paint too...

Here's a pic. | That's one f-d up headlight. The wax isn't what caused it, but may have gotten stuck in the edges where the headlight started peeling and made it look worse.
My recommendation would be to power wash (maybe just a hose) out the wax residue, then wetsand it and clear coat it.

| | | Re: grey area headlights/eyelids paint Haha yeah I know. I'm just worried I will screw it up more. if I wetsand it, what "clear coat" do you recommend? Either that or I have to say, papilonious' vinyl looks professional and spiffy. I wonder how that's done too. Quote:

| | | Re: grey area headlights/eyelids paint I actually did the vinyl myself but I'm a professional. I actually made a pre-cut stencil but its a little tricky to put on. Trying to get 2D vinyl to wrap around a 3D headlight is a little tricky but I managed to get it on with only one seam. If anyone is interested, I'll send out a few prototype vinyls for a very low cost. I just want to see how these work for someone that's never done it before. Send me a pm. |
