| | | Re: Transmission Question Dont worry about the warranty, I dont have one My car is an 05 with 138000km (sorry didnt converted it in miles) and I didnt take the extended warranty cause in all the cars I bought I never used an extended warranty vs what it cost me. I drive approx. 200-300 km per day (salesman) so I'll be near a cadillac dealer somewhere lol! I always challenge the dealer when it comes to fixing problem: if the repairs doesnt fix it, I'm not paying for it 'cuz the service I asked was to fix it, right? Here in quebec, you have to be a little bit hard on the manager but they always understand. |

| | | Re: Transmission Question Just to let yall know, I took my car into the dealership at 7:30 this morning and will pick it up about 4:00. The problems I reported were the AC vents having heavy condensation on them and the RPMs moving weird..I will update yall tonight. |

| | | Re: Transmission Question Back from the dealer ship. They updated the engine computer (The tech was doing transmission update so why not the engine) and also he reprogrammed and updated the tramission from a 2007 bulletin. He said that it was the first cts to see without any code on it
Also, after updating the transmission, the tech said that my car will make weird shifting due to the shift adapt transmission... WOW thats weird alright! It shift strangely like it was slipping but wasn't... He said couple of 100 km but it shift normally...
For the jumping rpms, I'll have to wait til the transmission adapts itself! |

Another thing I noticed; when you first turn on the A/C, for some reason, it starts in recirculation mode, even though the recirc indicator is not lit. If I press the recirc button, it stays in recirc mode and the indicator light turns on. If I press it again, the indicator light goes out, and only then does it pull outside air.
I know this because when I am smoking with the window cracked and the AC off (just vent), smoke goes out the window. If I press the A/C button, the smoke stays in the car. Press the recirc button twice, and the smoke goes out the window again.
Strange.
moral of the story is smoking is bad for your health.

Anyway, the transmission reprogramming did nothing to help..RPMs still move weird sometimes and like when I'm coming to a stop it shifts weird sometime...oh well. |

Or is it just the tach needle? In my case, the engine was holding a steady speed, it was just the tach needle moving. And when they reflashed/updated/reprogrammed/whatever the ECU, that went away.
But I hear ya, this transmission shifts weirdly compared to other autos I have driven. But it works, and it shifts fairly quick, so I am happy. |

| | | Re: Transmission Question Well for those who's curious, the rpm after the update still moving weird but like Z71 says, I'm going to live with it and say its normal.
My other question now is this: since the tech updated the transmission, he told me that the transmission will adapt the shifting to my habit. Okay o problem... first 200 kms done with the car, the transmission was holding the rpm for longer than it use to do before shifting. Normal, I guess. Now its been almost 1000 km since then and yes, the hesitation about shifting into next gear is still there but almost gone but I found something strange:
when accelerating for example in first gear at 50% throttle and letting go a bit (to make the transmission goes in second gear) and just before it shifts into next gear, putting 75% throttle, the transmission shifts so harsh like I was hit in the back and the wheel starts spinning. Its the first time I experimented that but I just wanted to know if its normal. Tks. |

| | | Re: Transmission Question I get hard shifts sometimes if I let off the throttle and then back on. Probably because you are sending extra power to the torque converter when the computer is not expecting it while shifting.. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
