| Re: cts vs sts I'm around these beasts quite frequently (I work at a Cadillac dealership) and can tell you they are completely different vehicles, though look similar in ways.
The CTS is extremely sporty, kinda harsh riding; however, the payoff is excellent handling. The car is extremely swift through the corners, more than you would expect from a Cadillac. The interior is kinda a downfall IMO, with more hard plastic than the STS. The rear seat has more room than expected (just as much as my Seville does) and interior actually has a decent amount of storage. The 3.6 in this car is pretty damn fast, and fuel mileage is pretty good.
Now the STS is much more a luxury car. The handling isn't nearly as sharp, more of a "wallow" through corners, though isn't bad at all. The ride is softer and more comfortable; again, more a luxury car. Interior is much improved, with lots of soft touch material and nice features (cooled seats and optional magneride suspension). Rear seat room is actually about the same from what I can tell, and the storage space isn't great. Gas mileage is around the same for the STS w/3.6.
It depends on what you want. If you want super sporty, go for CTS. If you want luxury/sport mix, STS might fit you better. The prices for '05 cars are similar. I've seen a few STS w/V8's going for $20k. STS V6 is around $17-$18k, which makes them a really kick ass value. CTS prices are actually similar to STS.
