upgrading to navigation questions

Remove this ad
I am contemplating just buying a navigation unit and replacing my stock radio. What all would that include me doing as far as the install? Would it use my existing onstar antenna(it's mounted on the hood)? And would all the information still be displayed on the new unit?

You need to splice in one wire for the VSS, and add a gps antenna. The rest is plug and play, after you get the theftlock cleared from a dealer.

Re: upgrading to navigation questions

It's pretty easy once you get the hang of prying off plastic bezels and if you know how to use wire taps.

Re: upgrading to navigation questions

It's worth $1000, if you like navigation. If you rarely travel to new locations, I wouldn't bother making the purchase.

Be careful what you wish for.

There are much better systems that are easier to use.

Installation is a bitch though.

Re: upgrading to navigation questions

Not to steal your thread, but I recently purchased a used 05 CTS-V which previously had the navigation system and 6 disc, it now has just the single disc. I was wondering how much work would be involved in swapping the navigation back in there? All the wires and everything should be there no?
