amp on a stock sys???

Remove this ad
I am looking to disconnect the stock amp from the current speakers but my questions is which one is it. there's a module right next to the sub and another box (motorola) by the passenger side rear quarter panel. The old sys was stock non-bose. Question which one is which and if neither where is the stock amp. thanks guys and pardon the blondness.

Re: amp on a stock sys???

The factory amp is on the driver's side of the trunk, rear, directly in front of the left tail light. If you disconnect it nothing in your audio system will work. not only does the factory amp provide power for all the speakers, but it's also the "brain" of the radio. It controls volume, eq, dsp, fading, balancing, etc. The unit in the dash is basically just a screen with the cd changer. It tells the factory amp what to do. Without the factory amp, the factory cd player is completely useless.

Re: amp on a stock sys???

You will need to either take out the amp and the whole headunit, or keep the amp and still "use" it just for certain features, but not power....
