| | | What the hell is up with my Caddy? I posted earlier about some problems I was having, one with my suspension which I received a lot of great ideas to help me pinpoint it. At this point it looks like it'll be a lot easier to resolve than the 2nd problem I'm having rt now.
Problem #2 is more serious, I've noticed that at times my car doesn't seem to respond well when I am accelerating, it's kinda weird... I feel a bit of a vibration/whirring sound in the gas pedal sometimes, and it sounds like my car is trying to shift gears or something, but just makes a revving sound like I'm revving it in neutral... when this happens, I can also feel a vibration in the shifter when I put my hand on it. This problem seems to come and go intermittently... sometimes i can feel a response from my car instantly without any feedback from the gas pedal, other times it just seems confused as to what it wants to do... making the revving sound.
BTW my car is not manual... it's automatic, and it's a 03' CTS.
Any help you can offer me would be GREATLY appreciated... I appreciate you just responding, period. Thanks
Jay

| | | Re: What the hell is up with my Caddy? If I can offer some insight, you mentioned your problem was 'intermittent'. I'm assuming you bought the vehicle used with considerable mileage on it. Needless to say, I'm the original owner of an '04 with 75k miles on it. It is now in the shop for the 4th time for an intermittent problem. The dealer is incapable of fixing it; Cadillac customer service is now located in India and worthless.
It has been in my experience, that when an owner has had enough, and the dealership can't fix it, the vehicle gets traded in, and the intermittent issue becomes someone else's problem.
Now that the CTS has been around for a while and people have had the opportunity to rack up some mileage, I am seeing the gamut of issues arise in this forum. I expect my vehicle to operate beyond 100k miles without major issue. This unfortunately is not the case. After owning 3 GM vehicles, this will be my last, I'm going Japanese, they don't break. |

| | | Re: What the hell is up with my Caddy? Well I know the car was traded in for a 08' Caddy... so I just assumed the previous owner wanted to upgrade... I'm just kinda concerned that something like this would be putting unnecessary wear and tear on my engine and I will have to buy a new motor in the not too distant future... I was kinda hopin it was the result of a dirty throttle or something, but I'm not very knowledgeable in cars... I'm stuck. |

certainly not true. don't wanna get political, but this flawed mindset is one of america's biggest problems. why not just move to japan since things over there are so perfect? |

You're absolutely right, cars break no matter where you get them from. Forgive my unpatriotic sentiment, but its not the American mindset thats flawed, its the culture.
Without argument, the new 2nd gen CTS is a much more refined car then our 1st gens. Point being is that the year 2003 was not that long ago, and certainly not in the stone ages of technology. Theres no excuse for the poor quality and workmanship that has gone into these vehicles, while the absolute garbage that ships in from Korea has twice the fit, finish, and reliability at half the price. |

| That was one of the first things I checked for, the RPMs do raise slightly, but not a crazy jump like you'd expect with the revving. It only tends to happen when I am trying to open up the throttle a little bit by pressing harder on the gas pedal, if I start off slow and increase speed gradually, no problems... only when I am trying to accelerate to merge onto the highway, or overtake someone. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
