Dude, you should just do what that awesome guy Will Castro from 'Unique Whips' has his cronies do every time they get in a high dollar exotic. Pull all the panels you can and spray paint those bitches!! Im tellin you, nothin like like a Benzo or a Bentley with 82 Inch rims and a Krylon Dash, would definitely look hot on yer CTS.

Re: Painting Dash

It would look nice, if that shop is anything like how it will actually look like. Problem is paint will not apply very well to that material. Never thought of this, but it would be sweet to do!

That's just funny right there! There is nothing illegal about painting over your airbag covers. Don't check upholstery shops. Check with body shops. It's pretty obvious that the shop you checked:
1. Doesn't want to bother with you, and
2. Doesn't have a clue.

I like the looks of the concept you have in mind. If you can get it done, it would look nice. The hardest part of the job really is taking everything apart and putting it back together. I smoothed all of the interior plastic trim in my truck and had it all painted to match the body color. I love the way it looks, but at the same time, I would probably never do it again.

First of all, the disassembly/reassembly was just a royal pain in the ass; and this was on a '91 GMC pickup. I cannot even begin to imagine the fun involved with pulling an entire dash on a CTS with all the electronics and wiring in there. The other thing is just the durability of the paint. I mean, you don't need any special paint or anything. The paint on my interior is the exact same as the paint on my exterior. As long as all the plastics are prepped right, the paint will hold and be just fine. More than anything, I just worry about people bumping it with something and scratching the paint. My truck is seldom driven anymore, but I would go nuts if it were my daily driver.

It looks great on my truck. It's not something I would have normally thought about for a CTS, but your illustration looks pretty good. If you like it, go for it. But be prepared to either pay a pretty penny or start learning how to cuss like a sailor and take it all apart yourself.
