Wet Floor Board

Remove this ad
Well this is the second time this has happened. My passenger side floor board is wet. It is a significant amount of water and it is coming in from the bottom or something as the floor mat is not wet on top but is on the bottom. I think it has something to do with the air conditioning as it was hot yesterday. Maybe a blocked or loose condensation hose. Anyone have this problem or any suggestions. It is going into the dealer tomorrow but I could save some time if it is something simple I could do at home tonight. Thanks

Re: Wet Floor Board

Definatly coming from the air conditioning, this is a common issue with other makers (mitsubishi ) as the hoses might crack or come loose. Make sure they do a complete check as they will find the hose, but there might be others that will come back to haunt you.

Re: Wet Floor Board

it COULD be from your a/c evap drain being clogged not allowing the condensation to drain out therefore leaking into the passenger compartment, i would want it water tested either way, but regardless to prevent mold and bacteria build up the carpets should be reomoved and dried properly and disinfected as well

Re: Wet Floor Board

This happened on my old toyota, and it WAS the A/C system. Cadillacroadside is right though--it's worth it to take it in just to insist that the the carpets get dried and disinfected. My car never smelled the same after I got water on the passenger side.

Re: Wet Floor Board

I had a '67 Mustang in high school with that problem. Good to see technology has advanced in the last 40+ years!

Re: Wet Floor Board

Talked to the dealer after the car was there all day and they have not found anything yet. They have a hose on a stand spraying water over the car. I have told them many times that the floor board was wet even when the car has not seen any water from the outside for days. Why is it that nothing seems to happen when you take a car to the dealer, but I am sure it will happen less than a mile away after its picked up. Once again I will update once I know something, I am sure it is the A/C

Re: Wet Floor Board

I had this same problem in my CTS. Sometimes, I'd have an inch of water in the floorboard! It turned out to be a crack in the AC housing under the dash. It was a bear to replace for them, and it ended up taking two weeks, between getting parts, and having a subcontractor come in to do the work. Definitely have them check the drain hoses as well. Those would be much easier to fix.
