How's the repair manual quality for CTS??

I don't have much experience with e auto repair. I purchased the CD service manual for the CTS on e-bay. It's helpful but not as detailed as I'd like. i thought I gain more confidence with repairs if I had the CD but I think it's for mechanics that have been to training, this just gives them the part no. and location.
