who wants 2 guess what is broken...please b warrenty!!!
ok so ive had this small leak of oil dripping down to the bellhousing made it look like it was the transmission seal where it joins the engine...wasnt that.
the leak is comming from under the valve cover and they say it is eather the rockers that cover the spark plugs or part of the cooling system.
*i have a check engine light for engine temp under the normal opperating temperature..thermostat not under warrenty and neigher is the cooling lines or whatever they said it might be.
the rocker seals are. and they are known to go on the 3.2L i think.
there is a little oil spilling on to the exhaust on the passenger side driver side seems ok.
apparently if there is il on the exhaust it is USUALY the rockers...(warrenty approuved)
at the point that they had diagnosed this they said im in 3 hours plus $7 for the black light die they put in the oil so they could trace where it is comming from.
if its the rockers then they cover everything if its not its my pocket..this is GMPP...how great is that...so ill be lookin at close to a grand.

Are you sure your valve covers arent loose in any way?? Maybe you need a new seal on it and the factory wore out?? Can you tell where exactly its coming from?? Does it feel/look like its coming from the valve cover?

i dont know. it all looked tight, im hoping its covered ill find out tomorrow...its the gmpp extended warrenty so it doesnt cover some stuff...apparently..my oil pressure sensor is one of those things...bull but its only $16 for the part and looks really easy 2 change..if they end up charging me ill just dispute it with gmpp..whats the point in a big warrenty if they dont cover anything that goes wrong...

Yea, sounds like it could be the valve covers, I Know that have come lose on a buddy of mines before, took it into caddy and thankfully it was only a couple months old, so they took care of it in a day. Sounds a lot like the same problem though......
Re: who wants 2 guess what is broken...please b warrenty!!!
when i change my plugs, i could undo all my valve cover bolts with my fingers, the only place it was slightly leakin oil was into the last plug hole on each side. i never have to top up on oil between changes, but i imagine it could have leaked way worse.
don't tighten the bolts anywhere near what the manual says (70 ft/lbs) those tiny bolts can't take it and will snap.
i just tightened mine down nice and snug, seems to have stopped my small leak. but a gasket replacement maybe in order for a leak more severe.

Hmmm yea that isnt good to have the valve cover bolts loose by hand. There should be about 20 ft/lbs on the bolts. You are correct going 70 ft/lbs would most likely snap them as I have done that to 1 bolt before.
If you have a consistent problem with the valve cover bolts coming loose..I would possibly think about going to your autozone and getting some threadlock. Only put a small dab of it on your thread on the bolt..and it will hold VERY firmly.

when i get around to my thermostat change this summer i'll check them again(actually i'll probably pick up some new gaskets and change them). if they are loose again, i'll locktite the suckaz.
