so my 3.2L has a leaky oil pressure sensor...part is only $16..$100 labour LOL suprise suprise..
looks like a simple unplug wires on a clip and 1 wrench to take it out and just put the new 1 in...i cant see this being more than a 5 min job...
is it really as easy as it looks? is the oil gonna spill out of the block where the sensor is? what should i expect? and any sory of gasket ill need for this? or anti siez lube?
thanks

Re: 03 oil pressure sensor

a little oil comes out, a little teflon tape on the threads works best, dont break the connector taking it off.... then when your done sit back and try to figure how much it was worth for you to do the job. i had a plumber at my house to fix a leak, one dollar peice of pipe, couple cents in solder, ten minutes worth of work for $200 bucks, your not just paying for time but expirience i know my shop charges about the same and that would include diag (because we dont accept any diag but our own) perhaps one day the red cross will open a repair shop, but until then.....

Re: 03 oil pressure sensor

im not gonna argue the labour price..thats just how it is and how it has been...im just sayin simple jobs can be done at home and save a few bucks..and this looks like it is one of these jobs.
thanks for the info ill be attacking this this week unless i can get GM to cover this ...they say its not covered in my extended warrenty...life goes on.

Re: 03 oil pressure sensor

it is gmpp and they say its not covered. but even still my dedutcable on it is 100 and its $16 plus 1hr labor so its $116+tax total...is it really worth the pain of a argumant for $16? not really
my beef is for some reason my warrenty doesnt cover the thermostat...and i need a new 1. im gonna have to research how to do this cuz im not payin 800+ for it. ill get the part from my dad he works at the dealer...but even that is gonna b a little expencive
