Re: Tire help asap

The pilot sport a/s are a great summer tire. I would personally go with the pilot mxm4. Its a good all-season tire that rides real nice. I work at a costco on the weekends and we sell a lot of them for luxury cars.

Re: Tire help asap

Look for a tire that has at least a 400 on the treadwear rating. It will be written on the side of the tire. The 2 other ratings are Temp and Traction. Try to get a A on those.

Re: Tire help asap

Whichever tire you decide on, make sure you check the manufactured date stamped on the tire. As a 20/20 report showed last week, there are a LOT of tire retailers selling old tires (made more than 6 years ago) as "brand new'
The manufactured date is the last number in the oblong circle at the end of the DOT nomenclature.

Example: 229 = 22nd week of 1999.
1204 = 12th week of 2004

Anything older than 2002 (20th week of 2002) would make that tire more than 6 years old and would increase the chance of blowout. The rubber in older tires that have been sitting on a tire retailers shelf for years decay and fail when used. You can see the proof on any highway. I checked all my tires right after seeing the piece on TV and thankfully, the oldest tire I had was 1205 (12th week of 2005).

Hope this helps.
