throttle body

My old throttle body keeps throwing CEL's and a few recent events have convinced me to just buy a new one (see my "BLOWN engine" post)...

Anyone have any recommendations for an aftermarket throttle body? I'd like to keep the price low and I really have no idea what I'm doing so once again I'm putting my trust in the Cadillac Owners Group. Thanks in advance!

I dont think there are any aftermarket throttle bodies for this vehicle and this engine. There are some for the CTS-V but that is a different animal. Your stuck with factory parts.

when i took my car in for the CEL, they said I needed a new throttle body.

Throttle body is peice of metal with a butterfly valve in it. Not sure how that is causing a issue. Unless it was cracked?

Do you know what code was coming up?

My car kept stalling out at stop lights and such, then it would go into some kind of low-power mode. I took it in and they said I needed a new throttle body which was $600. I just never got around to getting it.

Its $207 at GMPartsdirect.com, list is only $398

yes, new engine but i'm not sure if it includes a new throttle body. I'll check once it gets here.

The throttle body like i said beofre is juts the metal that connect to the intake. It will have the butterfly in it to adjust the amount of air entering the engine. And if they were trying to charge $600 it sound like they were replacing something else or guessing what was really needed and replacing several parts.

But if they get a salavge motor then it might have the TB on it if it is a complete. Of course make sure the timing belt, water pump, seals, gaskets, etc... get replaced.
