Re: hard performance numbers and info needed

there are more intakes than a volant available, there are also cat backs, high flow resonators, and X pipes.
You can also have the ECM tuned, install a NOS kit or add a turbocharger.....

Re: hard performance numbers and info needed

Assuming you are as you name says...

Don't look for a small block chevy experience with this car. The little amount of performance parts will help a little, but not a whole lot. If you are a motor man, you will understand what I mean. This is not like a small block, with thousands of aftermarket parts available. There are not any cams, heads, intakes, etc. There also aren't a lot of performance places able to help us move out faster. This is just not that kind of car. Although, with the gas prices going up, things are changing. GM is starting to use this motor in many of its vehicles. Maybe more parts will come from that? If you want to play with motors, get the CTS-V, with that good old small block. On the other hand, the regular CTS gets a lot better gas mileage.

Magazine test reviews show the 3.6 gets about 15.0 in the quarter. Search the forum. There was a discussion recently about what some of the members have gotten on the track. It seems high 14s is to be expected.

I have always owned cars with small blocks. I am used to going fast. Maybe it's my age, or whatever, but that doesn't seem to matter so much anymore. This car is plenty fast to have fun in. Also, it handles really well. It is more neutral than anything I have ever owned, except maybe the Vette. It feels and looks great. I really love this car!

Dan

Re: hard performance numbers and info needed

Ok, I just realized that I answered this question before. Same basic question from you...how fast is it? You got a lot of replies last time. Stop asking the same question, darn it. Even a web search will show you magazine reviews that say this car is good for 15.0.

Get a 3.6 if you want the fastest regular CTS. (yeah...now the 3.2 guys will be mad at me again).

Get a CTS-V if you have the money for it and the gas.

Get a V8 G8, when it comes out, if you have the money for it and the gas.

Don't expect to beat every car on the road. It seems those pesky Nissan V6s can take us. Oh well. I wouldn't own a Nissan if Ghosn gave me one personally. I am an American.

I will say it again: If you are ok with high 14s to maybe 15.0, this car will do it stock. If you want faster, you can do some tweaks. In my opinion, CAI, exhaust, etc. are the last things that I would do to a engine for more horsepower. On the other hand, for this car, this is basically all we have.

Re: hard performance numbers and info needed

Stock figures:

6.7 zero to 60
15-15.1 1/4 mile

Figures with my mods:
6 flat zero to 60
best 1/4 mile is 14.7

BAATFAM with less mods than me and exact same weather conditions got 14.49 out of his 3.6 CTS. I dont know what is up with my 1/4 mile. I am getting a good zero to 60 with my mods so I know I have gained power..... beats me.

My mods are below.

Re: hard performance numbers and info needed

As the V motto goes, theses aren't straight line cars... The CTS is too much of a pig for a 255 hp V6.
There are no performance mods worth mentioning for the CTS, except for the tune...simply because of the potential it allows.

Id like to know the power the transmission (5L40) can handle. Id be surprised if its more then 300 lbs-ft. Id bet the Aisin isn't much more then that, either!
