| | | Re: 2006 CTS using Oil It is difficult to find a good service department. The dealer in Martinsburg (I will not mention any names) lol,, used conventional oil when I went for my last oil change. I know this because I watched the service techninian fill the engine from the bulk tank. I asked the service advisor if they carried mobile1 in bulk his response was, No we only carry mobile 1 in 1qt bottles. When I advised him what I witnessed he talked to the technician. I made them drain and refill with mobile1. I only paid 35 bucks for the oil change as I raised a lot of hell. For the major service I just had done I went to the dealer in Hagerstown MD. I was very pleased with there service department. |

| | | Re: 2006 CTS using Oil its always good when you can find a trusted dealer to provide service, there are alot of bad ones out there, we strive for customer satisfaction all around, we are the number one dealer in the country as far as sales and my service techs are very conscience of training, every job (including oil changes) are check by a quality control person and we provide 24/7 roadside service to ANY cadillac customer, so if your in central N.J. and you break down you might meet myself or my staff |

The only people I know personally who don't complain about burning oil are those that "grandma" the car.
If you are not burning oil, then you need to DRIVE your car Trust me, she will appreciate the workout |

| | | Re: 2006 CTS using Oil Burning a quart every 1000 miles is not right.
Burning a quart every oil change is okay. My Max had 180k miles, burning a quart every oil change, and that engine was as stout as the day I bought it.
Please don't have everyone thinking "OMG, my engine burned a little oil, Cadillac has to give me a new engine now!!!" |

If you baby the car you're likely to developer an oil consumption problem. If your engine starts to use oil the first thing to do is take it out and drive it like you stole it.
Go all the way to the top of the page and read the technical archives. It'll save you from looking foolish in the future.

| | | Re: 2006 CTS using Oil I agree with koz & jimmy, these cars are meant to be driven. I don't have an oil consumption problem, but after the worst WI winter on record and horrible "granny" driving conditions for about 5 months, my car had a bad case of spring fever just like me. Now, with dry roads (and the purchase of a new Escort 8500 radar detector) I've been doing a lot more driving in the 65-80mph range. The engine is more responsive, runs smoother and I've seen a definite increase in my fuel economy.
In fact, about a month ago my car had developed a very pronounced ticking, probably a lot like what you are describing, sounding like a bad lifter or something, I thought I was in for trouble. Did an oil change and it still persisted, but after a few weeks of spirited driving, especially a 90-95mph road trip to IA for the midwest meet, the tick is completely gone. The only thing I can hear is a little chatter from the fuel injectors when the hood is open.

| | | Re: 2006 CTS using Oil well...from a technical standpoint there may be some truth, along the lines of carbon. carbon is a performance robbing factor in your engine, it can cause oil consumption problems, poor fuel economy and poor performance, whether or not driving faster truly takes care of a carbon issue is another issue. what it comes down to is proper maintenance, proper fuel (im a true advocate AGAINST high octane fuel), and proper oil. if a manufaturer puts mobil1 in a vehicle, you should also (or something of equal quality) dont use "bobs all-weight synthetic oil and carpet cleaner". i know little old ladies that dont have oil issues, and i know speed freaks that dont either | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
