^^ Agree w/Mr. Anal. I would not take my car to a "Jiffylube" or any of those in-and-out places. Dealership or DIY.

Re: First Oil Change 8800 miles... Questions?

NewBEE here, HELLOW CTS owners. I do my own work on all my cars because im capable, and i like it done RIGHT. I have seen too many 20/20 shows that show places ripping people off by not doing anything or oil change places with 17-18 year olds that Cross threaded my oil plug and put in a pan saver without telling me (It was winter 10 degrees out,so i took it to oil express). Then my neighbors wife took her all wheel drive to the same place in town for a oil change and the guy down in the pit drained the oil and trans fluid and they only filled the oil.Well she made it about a mile before it locked up.Four thousand later and they actually at first denied it happened. She got a lawer and oil express changed their mind.If it does not bother you to spend 80$ do it.

Re: First Oil Change 8800 miles... Questions?

There is no way I would pay $120, or even $100 for an oil change, I don't care if they top off all fluids including...nevermind.

I say that because I have everything I need to do it in my driveway - jack, oil pans, etc. Like someone else here said as well, it's always nice to get some one-on-one TLC time with your car.

As far as savings goes, my car takes a little more than 6 quarts of Mobil 1, which can be had at Walmart in 5 quart jugs for $22 a jug. That works out to about $30 for the whole change including the filter. Add a couple bucks if you want for the random fluids that I have in the garage for top-offs.

So saving $70 bucks ... that a free tank of gas!

Do those random fluids include the beer you drink while changing the oil?

Re: First Oil Change 8800 miles... Questions?

The cts oil change is soooo easy and clean. Just do it your self. Some people can do it with out even jacking the car up. The hardest part is breaking loose the drain plug when "joe blow lube" puts like 200lbs of torque on it.
