looks really good man. I think you need to go with tinted sides and fogs to be black all around. If you really want clear fogs, that would be OK but you DEFinitely need smoked sidemarkers.

Re: Tinted the tails (again)

I know you mentioned that the first attempt at the clear coat was a nightmare... how about the process as a hole..? I want to tint mine and I know that in every attempt I have tried to paint anything, has turned out to look like my 6 yr old did it.. Hell, she might even do a better job.... but was it over all an easy process and would you do it again...?

CTS lights are kind of big comparing to other passenger vehicles to be spraid from a can. many of you will have a orange peel. anyway, links below should give you some good info how to do it in home envoriment.

Re: Tinted the tails (again)

^^^^ it's all about the wet sanding and polishing. but if your not a diy guy you could have a nightmare. If you haven't used nightshades before the lightest coats imaginable is the key, maybe practice on your wifes car first..

Re: Tinted the tails (again)

The entire process is pretty easy & I imagine anyone without any paint booth experience could get similar results as what I ended up with. Like Tommy said, this stuff will run like crazy if you lay it on too heavy. You really just have to put down REALLY light coats! The first two coats I did were just a light mist barely covering everything. The next two were a bit heavier. You just have to have patience and not rush it. Just remove the lights & wash everything down really well with dish soap. Then tape off everything you don't want sprayed & do light coats waiting about 10 minutes between each. Take your time & you should be ok.

You don't have to clear them, but I had read that it was a matte finish if you don't, so I did. I waited about 45 minutes before I cleared them. Tommy gave me the heads up about the Spray Max 2K clear which is freakin awsome.Cost me almost $45 for 2 cans shipped, but it's worth it IMO.I ended up with some dust & lint in the clear this time & there is some orage peel, but it'll all come out with some 2000 grit paper & a good buffing. Good thing I bought myself a new buffer for Christmas last year!

I think I'm going to go ahead & tint everything. I looked at a black CTS again with the clear lenses & it looks cool, but I'm gonna go with black as originally planned.

Re: Tinted the tails (again)

i think it will look good no matter which way you choose, looks damn good already.
i used that spray max clear on my poly eyelids on top of a base coat i had matched at an autobody paint supply place. after i wet sanded, buffed and polished you can't tell the difference from my factory paint.

Re: Tinted the tails (again)

anyone know if they make a vinyl kit for tinting the reverse light and third brake light? I have seen the precut vinyl for fogs and tails.
