Whats average HWY MPG with 04/05 CTS-V?

Remove this ad
Just wondering if i could get the average highway MPG for an 04/05 CTS V. Obviously its going to depend if your foot is on it or not, but for the stroll to work and back, im looking for something in the 25ish range. Around town playing around im not worried about =). 70 mile round trip to work X6 days a week! my 2003 Silverado SS is at 15.4 highway average... YIKES>.

Thanks for the responses in advance.

Jason

Why don't you ask the guys in the "V" forum?

Re: Whats average HWY MPG with 04/05 CTS-V?

Rated highway MPG on the regular (non-V) CTS is 27, I am fairly sure the V will be quite a bit lower. My average MPG is around 18-22 for mixed highway/city driving (3/4 highway I'd say) but I push the pedal quite a bit -- a more conservative driver could surely get higher.

The CTS isn't too bad for the power it gets though. I.e. my sister has a Nissan Rogue which is 175hp 4-cylinder, 100lb less curb weight and CVT transmission yet it still gets lower MPG. Really though, if you're concerned about saving $ on gas, you may want to look at a non-luxury car and especially a non-luxury/performance like the CTS-V, especially since the maintenance costs are considerably higher than a typical economy/mid-level car.

Re: Whats average HWY MPG with 04/05 CTS-V?

On flat highway, at 70mph, my DIC says 28-30 mpg. I do 3/4 highway and normally my DIC average at fill up time is 24-25. pyromaneyakk is always passing me.

I love the news reports that say everybody is worried about raising gas prices. I set my cruise at 65-70 on the freeway to work. There are a lot of cars and trucks that fly by, probably even a few Silverado SS (hot). Yeah, they are really concerned about fuel prices!!! My crazy driving is mixed in with some really conservative driving....Coast to the lights...Use the cruise...Lights are timed at around 42 mph in Mesa AZ.

If you are really concerned, you wouldn't be asking about a V. If you want to go fast and get decent mileage, then get a Cobalt SS. The new Malibu is decent, but the one with our 3.6 motor gets about the same mileage as a CTS. Actually, the Vette (even C5) has great mileage ratings (if you could stay off it).

I would love to trade my CTS for a V, but fuel mileage, and having to buy premium, is one downside. Our 3.6s are not blazing fast, but they are fast enough to have some fun in. Besides, the handling is great.

Re: Whats average HWY MPG with 04/05 CTS-V?

Thanks for the responses. Maybe my original post was misleading. Its not that im trying to get a super MPG car, but i get 15mpg now. I want to get something in the 25MPG range, but something i can still have a lot of fun with when i want to.

Thanks again for your responses.

I average between 27-32 mpg. That’s according to the DIC
