big time problem with my Airbag

Remove this ad
hey there im new to this site just bought a 2003 cadillac cts 3 months ago and i seem to have a problem with the airbag light indication on my dash always being on, also when i pull up the codes i get 2 that can not be reset (ipc u1000 and irc u1000) i dont know if they have anything to do with the airbag.
every time i get in my car and start the engine or have it on the on possition the air bag light flashes 6 times but instead of going off and just having the seatbelt light on the seatbelt light goes off and the airbag light stays on though out my driving, i have noticed that if i play with the stering wheel before i start the car or having it on the on possition that sometimes i will go off! and i am able to clear those 2 codes mentioned above. but im not really sure if that might be the cause.
any help would be appriciated
thanks in advance

Re: big time problem with my Airbag

Hello,
It is a common probleme with an 03 cts. Theres gotta be a yellow switch under driver's seat. Unplug the switch and replug it back, hopefully that will resolve the whole airbag issue.

Best Regards,
Khan.

Re: big time problem with my Airbag

With the car off, unplug and replug, nothing to clean. It's a yellow connector. One on each side, driver and passenger in the front only. You don't have to wait. Once you do it, start it up and the air bag will do a self test and the light should go off.

Re: big time problem with my Airbag

yeah man this F-ing bag of shit was getting me on my nerve im just glad i could fix it....

but i do have another question if you chould help me out...
i think my 2003 cadillac cts is not responding very well and the exceleration is not that quick in other words it sucks at least i think so.
a wile back when i was trying to fix the airbag light that was always ON i was told by one of the dealers to unplug the negative on the battery for about 30 seconds and plug it back and leave the car running for about 2-3 minutes and that should fix the airbag but ever since that i'v noticed that its not as quick the proformance stinks....
i dont get any codes on the DIC....

thanks Sam

Re: big time problem with my Airbag

I don't have any experience with the performance part. Mine has always run fine and now that gas is $4/gal, I don't push it too hard. I would think if your performance is down, then your mileage is also down. I get about 23.1 m/p/g mixed driving.

If you unpluged your battery, did it effect the automatice windows? Sometimes those are affected by no power and have to be reset.
