| | | Re: OnStar Upgrade that wouldn't increase the value anyway. I wanted to upgrade my car for it but it is not upgradeable. |

The base package is $314 including the fees.
You get a new OnStar module which has updated menus and a few more features.
The antenna is replaced but it is just digital compatible, it looks pretty much the same.
Some of the early ones fell off due to the design of the replacement. If it falls off inside the first year you can go back and they will replace it at no cost under GM parts warranty. The newer design ones seem to stick better.
As to whether or not you need it, no one can really tell you that but you. As some have shared sometimes it can be a real life saver. In my personal situation it would be a genuine waste of money. I think it is a great service though and am happy to help my customers keep their systems operating smoothly. |
Yea I just got the upgrade three weeks ago and it does seem like its sturdier.
I just did the upgrade because "if" anything I can rely on them for backup, I really couldnt pass on $314 for the safety of my family. |

| | | Re: OnStar Upgrade GM has to pay for the equipment and they have to pay me to put it in.
You are paying for a one year subscription, a $15 fee (for shipping I think) and a $100 fee for re-activation.
Any upgrades done after February of this year have the extra $100 on them because they have had to deactivate the system.
Strange, but true.
At any rate, your one year subscription is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
All the Analog systems were shut down in February of this year.
No "trial" available, you just have to pony up.
OnStar isn't a big boon to the resale value... and if you just bought it you shouldn't really be worrying about that anyway.
If the next owner wants it they can buy the upgrade the same as you can. If you don't want it for your use it is not worth doing it.

| | | Re: OnStar Upgrade Had mine upgraded works great and nice to have a backup phone if your in an area where your cell phone does not work. We have a few of those here in Ohio. they put on a new antenna and my regular AM/FM radio would stop working but after they did the phone upgrade my regular radio works fine again, maybe they found a loose connection somwhere.
But i think its worth it if you use it |

I got a deal then! i went by my local NC Cadillac dealership, they charged me $199 plus tax, which came up to like $214 and I also got 160 minutes of talk time, and if you think it's a waste to spend $0.58 cent a day when they can save your life, u must not be worth much! I've had OnStart on every Car/Truck i've had since it came out and I love it! There's a lot of times where Cell phones don't work in the Mtn's of NC.. the phone thur OnStar always works! Plus how can you put a price on your life? My Wife had a flat and ran out of gas more than once! Sure was nice knowing that someone was there for her! And if you ever get lost they are there for you! And Turn by Turn is GREAT! Not sure about u guys, but I hate to stop and asked for directions! Just push that blue button and it sends it right to the car! |
