Cts Grill

I have an 07 Black CTS & was thinking of getting my Grill painted black & adding some chromes strips to it that I found on ebay. they are thin and go on the bottom part of each grill slat.
I think that they would break up the all black front of the car & look good along with the chrome stip on the hood.
What do you guys think?

Re: Cts Grill

My CTS is black and i put those strips on the grill as is, I didn't paint the grill. Those strips dress up the front end nicley. As soon as I can find a sport grill, I'll buy one. That's the way to go.

Do you have a pic of what the chrome strips look like?

Re: Cts Grill

Id like to see the factory grille black with these chrome strips, because I do agree the black grille (which I am doing) does look good, but then you have the chrome strip on the hood with no other chrome. I just wish there was an easier way to black out that chrome strip other than painting, I did see you could put some vinyl on it..

Re: Cts Grill

If it's that flexible ABS plastic chrome stripping with the adhesive backing I would stay away from it. I put it on the vertical grill slats of a jeep liberty I had and it looked great at 1st but it wasn't long before the chrome started wearing off & then the ends of the pieces started to come loose and pull away. Cheap stuff, you get what you pay for.

Paintin the grill black would look good though.

all those guys do is go to the autoparts store, buy rolls of it, cut it to approx the right size, mark it up 500% and list it on ebay.

i know because I fell for it. Like KFX said, it did look really good--at first. After about 6 months it started fading.

you would be better off buying a roll at pepboys etc. Changing it every 6 months, you would probably have a couple years supply for less money.
