2003 CTS Airbag Light and the Stereo ??

I read more where that connector goes to the side curtain airbag and there are know problems with the connectors. My car is out of warranty so I'm sure the dealer won't fix it free. I just reseat that connector whenever the light goes on and it seems to do the trick.

Everytime you start your car the airbag system does a self test to make sure it is in working order. If it fails for any reason the light comes on to tell you that you are not protected in the event of a crash.

please please please!! dont do that!!! the yellow connector under the seat is for your pretensioner and the connector has a shorting bar in it, damaging that connector could lead to unwanted deployment. the module for the air bag is under the center console. if you are playing with any connector PULL THE FUSE FIRST! ive seen too many accidental deployments from factory techs . on another note if your air bag light comes on there is a problem, if it has a u1000 in the sdm or a light with no codes chances are its a problem with the sdm

Thanks, where is the fuse for the Air Bag? Do you know if the airbags are warrantied for life?

im sorry to say the air bags are not warrantied for life (tho they should have a much longer warranty imo). one thing i would like to say about these forums is i see alot of people here that have ALOT of cadillac knowledge that are not proffesional technicians and offer alot of help, unfortunetly when it comes to playing with an air bag system doing the wrong thing can lead to tragedy, ive seen disasters at the hands of professionals that deal with it on a daily basis, ive been with caddy for 22 years and seen over a handful of deployments with injury and its not pleasant. i jumped into this post to advise people excercise the greatest of caution when they do any work on the sir system. first and foremost is safety and i strongly encourage that to my techs as well

well then why dont you help us out and tell us here where to go from here because i still have the problem on mine i always get those 2 codes irc u1000 and ipc u 1000 when the air bag light is on and they cannot be reset at all but some time the light goes off and then and only then i can clear those 2 codes what is your imput regarding this issue and is there a fix some how?
my guess is that the problem is coming from one of the buckles or the streeing wheel airbag i want to take a look there but i seem not to be able to take of the cover to see if there is a pinch or a lose connection

the connectors below the seats do nothing for me i have unpluged them about a 1000 times and same light is on.

a "u" code is a communication code in the system, it has to to with communication on the serial data line, either the sdm lost communication or one of the other modules did not see a 'STATE OF HEALTH" message from the sdm, it has nothing to do with your air bag components, nor is it a pinched wire in the component system, more than likely it is in fact the sdm module itself

thank you for you reply CR but where would i go from here does something need to be replaced and if so can it be done or does it need to go in to the dealer? what part's' would i need and where is that module loceted given that this car have a 100 of them all over the place

if in fact it is the sdm module, whoever replaces it will need access to programming thru gm so you are pretty much locked in to the dealer

i mean the dealer here wants 150 just to scan it down here they are fcuked
