| | | Subs? I finally made a choice of saving up for new wheels, instead of saving up for a system. (that was a hard decision!). but i still would like to to have a little bump in my car for the time being. I have a non bose system and the stock sub is decent for being stock. But it rattles the inside of the car alot, so i cant blast the music to much cause i hate the ratteling. anyway, i was wondering if there is a sub that will fit the stock location, and is able to run off the stock head unit and amp (that's a good price, and has more bump than the current stock sub). i also heard somewhere that there's a sub that fits the stock location and it doesnt make a ratteling sound, (the sub was flat instead of rounded, or something, idk). the ratteling is probaly caused from not having dynamat. thanks for the help. |

| | | Re: Subs? As far as I know from experience, no sub will sound right powered off your factory head unit. You WILL have to buy and aftermarket amp. However, this is just my opinion. |

| | | Re: Subs? if i did buy an aftermarket amp, how many watts should i be looking at getting?and what brand,etc... i don't want to spend too much money, cause i want to get some wheels soon. if i get a new amp, could i just take out the stock amp, and wire the new one with the wires in the car already? |

| | | Re: Subs? You could, however I would leave the factory amp alone. just add the new one to power the subs.
My question to you is have you searched the forums yet and seen all the custom stereo systems people have installed already? That may give you an idea or direction to go. I am not a stereo expert, but have owned many setups...I sure one of the audio gods will chime in shortly |

| | | Re: Subs? If you want to do it on the cheap, and rattle is your concern...why would you buy a bigger sub? Its going to rattle even more....
First you need to fix the rattle. Go get some dynamat and dynamat the rear deck, top and bottom. This will make your existing bass sound alot tighter and more defined...most likely get you thru till you got more money...plus get rid of that damn rattle...Most think the subs rattling, its that weak as metal they put it in....just get some dynamat and I promise that will be enough to get you thru till more money comes your way Plus you will want it dynamatted anyway when you upgrade your system |

| | | Re: Subs? Well I used my stock speakers which in my opinion sound good enough to leave alone for the time being and just installed a hi/lo converter and added 2 JL Audio 12W3V3 subs and a nice HiFonics amp for $350. He dynamatted the license plate for me also. I am very happy with the results for being just a small stereo shop in my area. |

| | | Re: Subs? i guess im just going to save up wheels, instead of getting a small system and then in the future replacing it with a better one. cause if i got that kicker sub, i would need an amp, and proably some dynamat. which is all out of my price range since im getting some rims. but thanks. Oh, I have a quick question for future referrences. Once I get some subs, (2 12" type r's), should I take out the stock sub and amp? thanks for the help. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
