Removing the Ash Tray - FRONT ??? (cc)

Remove this ad
.... I have an STS and posted this in the STS forum but wanted to throw it out there in the more heavily populated CTS forum. I'm sure the parts involved are the same between the models.......

Alright, I don't smoke, so thought the ashtray would make a handy bin for coins......... the other day I was fishing out a coin and another coin fell behind the ashtray caddy (over the top-inner lip). Now, the ashtray won't close because it's hitting the extremely out of reach coin behind it.

It doesn't appear convenient to remove, especially with the cig. lighter embedded..... however, on the cigarette lighter side, there appears to be a larger than necessary slot or gap in the groove that the sliding rail would be.
It almost seems like a "stick a screwdriver in there to release lock" kinda set-up, but knowing my luck, I would make the situation worst.

Anyone ever have to do this?
Thanks!!!

Ya post some pics....here is my ash tray

60gig MP3 Music/Video Player I have over 4thousand songs...its hard wired into the stereo and the cig lighter is behind the player and the cig charger is plugged into it so the MP3 is always charged.....and closes out of the way....Of course a wireless remote finishes it all off

Re: Removing the Ash Tray - FRONT ??? (cc)

The ashtrays are not the same. The CTS is a tip out and the STS is a drawer like device. There is a complete answer in the STS section.
