Re: ? on sunwoofers

I have 2 jl audio w-something or others, and some loose crap in my trunk slid into them and now the are blown and useless. Really not wanting to spend another big amount of cash on a system, so i bought the Alpine off a friend for $50 each. Brand new in box. Just something to get me by. Anywho, I cant install them until tommorow morning. I just cant wait to hear how they sound. Powering them with my JL audio 500-1.

Question Re: ? on subwoofers

another question for the audio Gods:
these are the specs on the subs-
Alpine SWE-1241 12" Type-E Series Sub-woofer (4ohm)

Features:
Kevlar-treated pulp cone
3/4 inch rubber surround
dual oversized Nomex spiders
frequency response 26-1,000 Hz
power range 50-200 watts RMS
peak power handling 600 watts
sensitivity 89 dB
top-mount depth 6-3/16"
sealed box volume: 0.8-1.7 cubic feet
ported box volume: 1.25-2.0.

Do you think my amp will blow these subs? 500w monoblock amp bridged?

Re: ? on sunwoofers

Shouldnt blow it...You cant blow a sub by overpowering it......Its turning the bass up past distortion levels or underpowering and trying to get more out of it than it can handle, causing it to distort, that blows subs

That 500x1 puts out clean raw power....I have the same one

Re: ? on sunwoofers

the E sub...uh, would not be a good Infinite Baffle woofer just because magnet size and depth would be taken into effect here...if you want something that works really well without having to do too much to the stock system http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_...roducts_id=106. This woofer has a flat cone design so you won't get those nasty rattles of the rear deck bouncin around...just my 2 Cents...I am using the 11.Ov2 for my rear deck.

Re: ? on sunwoofers

What's a sunwoofer? Is it a solar powered speaker? j/k

I have a 10" Alpine type R mounted in the factory sub spot. The installer just made an adapter ring to get it to fit. I'm very happy with the bass response, but I like tight bass and listen to rock, metal & blues, don't need the big boom/sizzle sound for hip hop/rap.

Hey bracester, you like your ED sub? I always thought their gear looked top notch. I actually bought some rolls of their sound deadening material was a better deal than paying for dynamat. I did my rear deck this winter but I'm waitin for warmer weather to do the trunk & back seat area.
