| | | Re: Embarrassed by my Caddy's rattling engine rev... The dealer that said he heard a CTS-V motor make the same noise is a dope. There is nothing in the automotive world that sounds better than a small block Chevy (early or late model) winding up. I'm getting wood just thinking about it.
By the way, those 2 motors do not resemble each other in any way, except they are GM products. What an idiot!!! |

Get a K&N and borla exhaust and then you win.

I had an '08 DTS loaner yesterday and I hit the rev limiter on that thing. Although I am not a fan of the DTS style, that car drove amazingly well and, I dare say, handled even better than caddy, despite the floaty suspension and bigger base. Maybe if they made 'em in stick with different styling I would consider getting one (if I hit the lottery).
The rattle or "buzz" only kicks in as the RPMs decrease under zero throttle, and then, only between 2900 and 2300. It also ONLY happens after the car is already warmed up. It makes a loud grinding, rattling, buzz noise then goes away. It doesn't help me out on the intimidation scale.
I'm waiting for my OTHER dealer to get a special-order part to fix the creaking noise my car makes on low-speed turns and breaking (I use two dealers -- the one where I bought the car and the one that is closer to me (and I think, more competent)). Once it comes in, I'll take it in and have the tech stand next to the car as I rev it up. I'd like to see him tell me it's "normal" at that time! |

| | | Re: Embarrassed by my Caddy's rattling engine rev... Yes it was warmed up. It was after a 10 minute ride to taco bell...haha.
Although I can't tell you the temp because I have the awesome 03 cluster with a clock that doesn't tell the right time instead. |

| | | Re: Embarrassed by my Caddy's rattling engine rev... You guys asked for an update, so luckily the problem got fixed.
This is the advantage of using TWO dealers. First one said "no problem" and the second one FOUND the problem. The Rattle/Buzz had nothing to do with the engine, it was from a loose heat shield underneath in the REAR of the vehicle (weird). Apparently, the dealer tightened it up and took care of it. I haven't picked it up yet, so we'll see.
As an aside, they replaced my rack-and-pinion system due to a defective part. This was causing the frustrating "creaking" sound on every turn. I'll get the details when I pick it up. Thank god for warranties! | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
